and it's your oil temp you're worried about, not the egt. the egt drops off pretty quick once you're at idle. ![Shrug ](./images/smilies/shrug.gif)

Extra insurance. I have a turbo timer on mine as well (oil/water cooled) mainly due to my alarm having it built in.Originally posted by ltjrunner:
yeah, but when you dont have a turbo timer id base off shutting the car down by when the egt's are closer to what they should be(idle) and then wait a lil while longer to ensure it being cooled off enough.
and yes, tt is not needed for a water cooled turbo. although, a friend of the families semi has a turbo timer and he is running a water cooled turbo and a air/water intercooler!
just because some one has only spent like 600 doesent make its a crappy turbo setup. i choose new over used as well, but i got some good deals on things i needed. and im starting out with everything that i absolutly need to make it run efficently without screwing up anything. then i will get all the Quality parts i need later. most people dont have the money to throw 1500-2000 down on the table at once, and get Quality parts. so you get what works.Originally posted by ltjrunner:
so obviously, you can get a crappy turbo set up for 600 bucks with crap parts, or spend a litlle more, like 600-1000 more and get quality parts. i choose to get quality, and i choose new.
According to Jarid it works just fine. I have mine backing off my 370cc injectors 40 percent and then gradually bringing them up and it works just fine. Also no odd condition when you blow off into atmosphere.Originally posted by Kick @#$ Mazda:
According to Ric the Apexi S-AFC doesn't really work with our ECU's. Referring to the 94 B6. I don't know, but with his experience with the Miata's I would take his word for it.
getting deals is always a good thing. ive found, when you start buying parts of a project here and there, and putting them on the car with out everything else leads to more problems. one thing i do is save money, or buy here and there to gain ALL the parts needed to make the car run efficent and complete the project set out. yes it sucks saving money, but then you dont short yourself and go with a lower quality cuz thats what ur pocket book at the time allowed.(not saying i always have done this, but ive learned this is what should be done)Originally posted by Josh:

i dont know its all preference and what someone can afford. but you dont say someone has a crappy setup if you havent seen it.
yah i totaly agree. but sometimes the lower quality works just as good as the expensive stuff. i can never seem to save money. so i just try to budget myself. i just didnt want to wait to put everything on, so i got what i absolutly needed first.Originally posted by ltjrunner:

So what designates it as a 'good' or 'crappy' part? The price? Where you obtain it? Because it says Apex'i, GReddy, HKS, etc. on it?Originally posted by ltjrunner:
