I've heard of KLZE's passing inspection with a gutted catalytic convertor. As long as the engine is running as it should, you use 92/93 octane gas, and you use the proper ECU & VAF combination then there is a decent chance you can pass emissions.

If you are really concerned - grind off or otherwise mutilate the KL lettering which is just to the side & right of the back exhaust manifold - there is no way during an MOT / yearly check anyone can tell it's not a 1.8. Also it would take an amazing insurance loss adjuster or assessor to have the smarts to measure the cc of the engine. I am assuming of course that you don't have 2.5 KLZE plastered in 6" high letters all over the trunk or windscreen though!!!!!

yes you'll get more power. From what I'm told, the most aggressive cams are KFZE cams. You can swap any K series cams in any car from what I understand. I wouldnt go throwing the KJ cams in there though.
and enough w/ the rude comments.
[ July 15, 2003: Message edited by: Custommx3 ]

Well if you feel compfortable dismantling the top end of the engine. You could take it to a Mazda dealer but your looking to pay upwards of a grand.

Yes you well notice it, seat of the pants it almost impossible for a human being to feel the difference with a few hp. You'll notice it more on the lower end.

I have a set of KL-03 cams sitting in my shop that I "Should" have in by then end of the month. I'll post the results. One quick question though. Everyone tells me that the intake cams would be more agressive than the K8 ones, but whats the general idea on the exhaust cam comparison of the K8/KL? I'm undecided if i should even put in the KL exhaust cams. Or would it be stupid not to put them in?
