Hey Barry,
I don't suppose you have any pictures of your new engine? Let's hope that your swap goes smoothly tonight.

well, I was talking with Mike E about my swap.
He seems to think the ECU from a 1.8L would work fine if you used the fuel rails off of the KFZE. He stated that the ECU doesnt control the fuel flow really, and if I used my fuel rails/injectors with a 1.8L IM/VAF/ECU Id have no problems and the VRIS points would match. We'll have to see. Also, I could get a millenia IM, have a 1.8L reprogrammed to the proper VRIS points of the Millenia and it may run great. I'll probably test this theory with an mx6 IM/VAF/ECU and my 2.0L injectors. See which gives me the best results.

Those cars seem like they'd be quite a bit larger in overall size compared to the MX-3. I think this engine will perform quite well. I wonder what kind of top speed you'd get once it's done. I know that on a good day my GS can get up to 208 km/h.

The Xedos 6 and Eunos 500, are built on the same platform as the 626, MS-6. The MS-8, millenia, and Eunos 800 are a slightly larger platform. I have performed the swap, my engine was purchased at half price @300US$, a KL-ZE would've cost @$750US$, yeah that's pretty cheap! But in all honesty, I regret cheaping out, i've suffered all the transplant probs for a lot less HP than a KL, still, it kicks Honda-butt!

...oh, and the K8 ecu runs too rich, and not all KF's use MAF's, all the one's i've seen use the JE50, and yes they all were J-spec KF's, i'm using a Lantis KF with a Cronos ecu, (the Lantis ecu didn't fit the Presso harness)

So you don't notice a big difference over your old engine? I thought you would with 40 more HP. Perhaps adding a turbo would help. What kind of problems did you have with swapping it?
[ March 11, 2003: Message edited by: WyldSide ]

Now I'm confused on what I should go for.
KLZE or KFZE
-I know KFZE is cheaper than KFZE but is the power that much more noticable?
-Which is more difficult to install
-Which needs more additional parts to install
-Which is going to be more difficult to get parts for when it's time for repairs or mainenance.
The KLZE just seems so expensive. It's almost 2x more than the KFZE.

Hey Barry if you need a 1.8 ECU to tinker with. I got mine still. You can have it for free. Just pay for shipping. Let me know if you want it. Its just sitting here.
