He has the timeslip and the club was at the drag with him. He wasn't using slicks or anything, he just have a CAI and lightened pulley I think.

So no, it's not necessarly 17.5 and higher for a 1.6 DOHC.
Yeah its all to the driver and the condition of the car. I am sure someone could make a 17s pass in my car if they sucked at driving =]

i had a sohc with caintake, breatherfilter, 2.25"in exhuast piping no cat, dualfriction centerforce clutch, shortshifter and the best i got was a 17.299 pretty much a 17.3 all stock i was between 17.5-17.8 in the 1/4. don't get me wrong am a very good driver beat most DOHC i race in the long run but i lost to a few dohc every now and then even with the new mods i have i dought i can get a 17.0-17.2 to get into the 16 i'll need a shot of nos 30 shot.

The problem with going faster is its addcitive i remeber being happy runnign a 16.5

Then it was a 15.5...

Now i know i have a problem given i am aiming for the low 11's and plan on getting throw off of the track after one run.

ok i went to the track yesterday in st. thomas and ran my stock 1996 rs 1.6 dohc with 17" Motegi mr7's on it. I have the time slip but can't upload right now due to scanner problem. anyways my car is auto and has nothing but rims on it therefore its stock in the engine category atleast. Well my best was a 19.240@ 71.53mph w/ a .700 reaction time so almost perfect. I was manually shifting it too at like 6000 rpm so these cars are slow lol just hammering the gas all the way down the track i ran a 19.750.

I think the general feeling here is that there is no way you can really make a MX3 DOHC/SOHC 4cycl fast and keep it NA.

To get decent performance you need to either swap in the B6T, BPT or the BP 1.8 motors or turbo your current engine. Anything else is going to give marginal increases at best.

The best time I managed to run NA was a 17.1 before I decided to go turbo.

Nah Juice still qualifies as a altered form of induction. I think a b6 has some good n/a potential just really its overshadowed by the capabilites of its bigger brothers.

mine is running with full exhaust system iridium plugs, obx-r spark cables, ractive mushroom cold air intake, slight ignition advance,ac removed, exedy clutch and running on 195/45-15s.my best on the 1/4mile was 17,57s. and let me tell you that drag is my thing! no way that stock makes 17 something! its much much slower.
