Re: cam shaft
so you mean to tell me that your AMAZING marvel of a japanese motor is so fast that it would beat anything on the road. well am i mistaken or does the 1.6l dohc 323 motor only come with 132 hp, and dont even try and tell me thats at the wheels. at the flywheel yes wheels give me a break. so unless you got some majour work done you aint that fast. and just for your info your NOT a STOCK mx-3, i guess someone forgot to tell you that they never came out with a TURBO mx-3 (just to spell it out to you if your car is turbo your not stock). and about the RS-R sh!t or type-R if you want to call it that, a million ppl on this board call their car RS-R or GS-R or what ever doesnt mean they really are, ive even considered puting RSX stickers on my car. unless your car is full out race motor, suspension, lightened body all unessacary components removed your not an rs-r (and your 1.6 will never reach 400hp reliably)

quote:
Originally posted by oo7sniper:
Just because I said I have a 1.6 doesn't mean it came stock in the car dude. Let me lighten you. I've got the J-Spec B6-T DOHC Turbo from an 88 Japanese Mazda 323. With this motor as it I'm running 13-14 sec quarter mile at around 90-95mph totaly stock. My friend here w/ the Si is changing to a T3/T4 Hybrid turbo on a B16A VTEC looking at reaching the same objective as me...400HP. My car this summer will be running 12's providing I can get enough money for the electronic boost controller so I can run 14psi of boost. If I get enough money I'll also upgrade the turbo to an IHI VJ-20 Hybrid (Garret T3-Super 60 Ball Bearing turbo guts inside). running only 17-18psi of boost at around 300-350HP. Then after a stand alone engine management...few things here and there...metal head gasket, forged pistons & rods, larger vavles, ect... & 30psi of boost... then I'll be around 400HP & some were around 10-11 sec quarter mile maybe a little quicker. So the next time you hear some one say " all I got is a stock 1.6" then you better make sure it's the same motor that came stock in that car & not a nother MUCH MUCH faster stock car. If you still think your friends car is all that then maybe he should come race me and I'll show him what a small MX-3 motor swap can do. If I had went with the bigger 1.8L BPT then he wouldn't have a snow balls chance in hell since it comes stock with around 50 more HP!!! Now you see how people get blindly suckered in to races they can't win and lose that big bet they put on it! Ohhh... by the way, notice how I said my car was an MX-3 RS-R...Mazda never made a type-r MX-3... that was a small hint there it had someting majorly changed right there!
--------------------------
Jeremy Miller
93 Mazda MX-3 RS-R

Ok...i have questions now...

1) why goto forged pistons and rods? The B6T internals will be fine.
2) on 18 lbs of boost, youre not anywhere near close to 350hp.
3) what tranny do you plan on using, cuz the G-series trannies have problems once you hit about 350 ft-lbs of torque.
4) why use a VJ-20 turbo body? Why not go with the VJ-23, ported for your application? Its a ball-bearing, water cooled design that should work very well with your application.

007Sniper...
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~kevmo/turbo.htm
Thats the most info i have on it. David Coleman might be able to find some other info, but he is the turbo expert, not me.
Hmm, to my knowledge, the B6T and BPT rods are the same. Deck height between the 2 engines is also the same IIRC, so it would fit. This being so, i have a friend in Cali running 25psi of boost (overspun turbo, but upgrading soon). He is running on totally stock internals of a BPT. He is running about 260 lb-ft of torque right now, but the overly small turbo is killing his high rpm power, so his hp figures are WAY LOW. Dave Lauzier's BPT powered MX-3 made quite a few runs on 30+ psi on his stock BPT as well, before the big turbo setup.
Also, have you looked to see what Road Race Engineering offers for the B6T. They are experts in preparing the older 323GTXs for Rally competition, and should have a huge wealth of knowledge. Might want to do a search for them if you havent talked to them already.
Ok....good luck

I am lookin for a completed b6t in the area and would love to get some info. I am in the central valley. I work in the bay area... thanx
