Stoopid questions:

I am putting a KLZE straight neck in my 323. (I moved the brake fluid reservoir over to clear the Intake Manifold). I had a 94 MX-3 parts car, so I checked and I have a chip-able MX-3 computer and a JE50. So a Probinator chip would be ideal for my set-up......right?

Also could I just buy a KL36 ecu and plug it into the 94 MX-3 harness?? The JDM computers are not really that expensive (any more) and they are intended for my engine since I am not swapping my intake manifold.

KL31 or 36 is fine. I've been trying to reach Ryan to buy a chip and no luck. Been around 3 months or more. Emailed him and left messages on Probetalk and Car Domain possibly MX6.com. Anyway

Ryan is useless.

Try stoker100 on PT for a custom chip.

or extremethings for a plug and play modified ECM. .

Ryan, you need to say what's on your mind, really. :P

Thanks.

I tried to get a hold of him too. I think he got sick of virtual tire kickers. Especially the amount of tools that go around looking for "performance chips"

Does it matter if the ECU comes from a Automatic Transmisson car? My KLZE had it's ECU still plugged into it's wirring harness, but it was also attached to a Automatic Transmission. The engine importer only wanted $75 for it. I passed on it, not knowing if it would work with my manual transmission equiped ah......MX-326GS LOL. My original plan was to chip the chippable (I checked) MX-3 ECU, but I don't think that option fits my time line for having the car on the road. My thought is to start the KLZE with the MX-3 ECU, because everything worked when it was in the MX-3. Thinking chipping the ECU before start-up would make it a possible variable (if it desided not to start).

As far as I know dosen't matter anyway KL31 or 36 are the numbers your looking for. Call him back and axe him what the PN is.

It doesn't matter if it's from an auto or stick car.

Some have reported finding KL36 ECU's in MTX cars
Some have reported finding kL31's in Automatic cars

Hey boys im back its been a while,Quick info-1992 Mazda mx3-japspec build 2000 KLDE cast number 814...101 heads KL31 longeck manifold updating that i sourced a KL31 ecu from ebay. And have been running a KL31 ecu GE50 combo for a while now and found the fuel econemy and power poor runs rich.Thu wot i have sourced that the KL31 and je50 is the idle setup for a longneck.Combos i have tested K8 ecu ge50 very poor.Mx6 ecu kl02 vaf slow to rev.Kl31 ecu klo2 vaf bad idle and spatter. And found that a stock k8 ecu and kl02 vaf the best setup hands down. The thing is if a japsec mazda mx6 klze longneck runs a kl31 ecu and ge50 ecu from factory, why is my'n running so poor.

It's actually JE50, not GE50

KL31/36 & JE50, KLDE ECU & KL02 VAF are ideal combinations that work very well. The K8 ECU with a KL02 vaf doesn't seem to be too had either, but if any of those combinations don't work well, you've either got 1) Bad VAF (bad ECU is very, VERY rare) or 2) other bad sensors, typically 02 and/or coolant.

I just got through with my swap a few days ago went to junk yard and got a kl02 vaf running stock k8 ecu I was hoping this would do fine for awhile untill I could get my chipped ecu back from the guy who was supposed to solider it in for me not really caring about the slight loss in power since right now I'm just working out the kinks and doing the rebreak in period.I dunno if timeing is off or not or vac hoses are crossed or the o2 sensor codes are screwing with it (I did buy new 02's (Densos) but for some reason i'm getting o2 codes) but mine runs like crap I mean it does ok no where near the pin you in your seat kinda thing it's supposed to have but it will pull a hill going down the road with ease I've got a pretty big incline in one spot on my way home and I can just touch the gas and it feels like I have an automatic going into it's passing gear but taking off and pulling the gears it's sluggish and and has a poppy kind of sound from the exhaust I'm thinking it's missing or predetonates by the way the car feels and the sound of the exhaust..

I have a 93 gs obd1

Take that damn KL02 off and install a JE50. That's why it's running like sh*t. You can only use the KL02 on the 96-97 OBD2 models or if your using a KLDE ECU (MX6 or Ford Probe)

Over fueling or not your car will run like crap with a KL02 vaf. This stuff has been tried over and over again. Trust me. Do you need to buy a JE50 vaf?
