they don't pull me over because my muffler is too loud (well it doesn't help), they pull me over just because it's illegal to change your muffler..When they see it's not stock well they pull me over..They don't care if it's lound or not they just want to give me a ticket even if it's quiet..The officer this mornig told me (the one who pull me over for the second time) it's not a personal thing, I like your car but it's my job to do so. If you don't change I'll catch you again one day or another.

BabyBlue Mx3<p>Go on the Mx-3 Québec board.<p>We note down the law for mufflers. Your answer to figth it should be there.<p>I think it is LEGAL to change it for the SAAQ! There is no law from the SAAQ, as they only enforce SECURITY! There is 1 thing that can make your muffler illegal, seriously. Noise, because the TOWN pass a law for that. Rather than that, if it don't affect your security.. There should be something for you to defend against.

Last thing, in the province of quebec, there is something you can say, that won't wirte you a ticket on the spot!<p>Say : 'Before you write me a ticket, I HAVE the RIGHT to make have a counter-thought. I demande an inspection at a SAAq Garage!'<p>Oh jeez.. the face when they hear that.. True, if everything was made in LA REGLE DE L'ART, you should pass the SAAQ Garage with no trouble.. Oh, instead of a 500$ fine.. you got a 85 bills.. interesting..

Ok ok.. not the last thing..<p>Here is the CODE of LAW of QUEBEC in French!<p>§ 9.
D. 1483-98, a. 91.
D. 1483-98, a. 92.
D. 1483-98, a. 93.
D. 1483-98, a. 94.
D. 1483-98, a. 95.

here's what you do.....you translate all that french law for me....or at least give me the skinny, I read it, I tell you to fight it, you fight it. Get on the phone and make calls.
Talk to that SAAQ thing (whatever that is) and get their response in WRITING.
If I was driving through Quebec would I get a ticket??? Steve I'm gonna come to your place sometime and I'll rev to redline the whole way and see if I get stopped. I still think yer being targeted. Your car DOES stand out.

mmm yea i've heard it a couple times from cops also about muffler being too loud. The last time i was pulled over i simply said "I duno, I took it to midas to put on a new muffler and this is what they put on *shrugs* how would I know im just a chick, u think i'd put a loud muffler on my car on purpose?!"
I think its the blonde hair that made the cop believe me that my car was targeted and some mean dude from midas slapped a performance exhaust on my car instead of a stock one. muuuhahaha- sometimes its toooo much fun being a girl ;)

Ok Darren I'll translate a bit for you<p>The SAAQ says that I have the right the change the muffler as long as it's well fixed, got no leaks, and as to be made for street use.<p>The law of Quebec on the other side says..<p>-the exhaust system must have a cat, muffler, piping (duh) and all the supports
-Everything must be well fixed and do not have any leaks of any kind.
-Any reparations on one of these msut keep the same caracteristics of the stock one.
-You don't have the right to replace, modified or remove any part of the exhaust system to make it louder than the stock one.<p>These are the best lines, they're others but doesn't concern the subject were on.<p>Judge for yourself now...<p>I think that if my muffler didn't make a lound sound it would be legal.

Instead of whining and crying to us and the cop that pulled you over while doing his job. Why not try to influence those motorists, aka ricers, who are giving the rest of us a bad name. These are the guys who think Fast and the Furious is how things are done, the street races, basically the jackasses. The reason you are targetted is because you drive a similar car to them, yes it is profiling but what can you do. I got pulled over and warned about my muffler, I didn't agree with it but hey, he is just doing his job. It is your job to know the laws, when you get pulled over discuss the issue with the officer in a calm manner and find out exactly why you got pulled over. Explain the laws as you understand them and see what he says. Flying off the handle only guarantees you a ticket. Screaming about how you want cops to die is one of the greatest ways of displaying your complete lack of maturity and ignorance.<p>

My comment was general and not specifically targeted towards you. The post of <blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr> i think they should all be killed, donut pigs!!!, <hr></blockquote>, was posted by Mitmaks. I do believe a portion of my comment applies to each and everyone on this list, especially those complaining in this thread. If you feel hurt by my comments, get over it. If you start treating members of the police force as people then maybe they and I will start treating you with the respect you deserve.
