SOHC to DOHC

Post by CarMan1 »

ok, i got a 1.6 sohc 4cyl engine... grr, a friend might be scrapping his old protege( think thats how u spell it) well his engine has a dohc engine, looks exactly like mine from a quick glance in the dark... how hard would it be going from sohc to dohc, and would it pretty much jsut bolt up? trying to stay with the 4cyl so i can turbo it up and have some fun...

id have all the parts, cam gears ect.. what would be be looking at if it can be done

the engine should not look like yours at all. If its a protege, it should have a 1.8, and if you say its a DOHC the top of the engine would be completely different. If his valve cover looks like yours, then it's a SOHC. Its not hard at all to do, just pretty much take yours out and put his in. Read the faq's it'll tell you, but you wont have to worry about any of the turbo parts so it'll be easier.
