zx2 conversion

Post by jonny_boo »

i just read about the zx2 suspension conversion, will this work with a 94 rs, and if so should the springs used be specifically for the ford zx2, or the mx3, im assuming zx2 but still need advice before i spend too much cash.

I wanna know the same thing. Can I use the ZX2 struts with my factory springs. Where I live it's rather unwise to lower an already low car. The half inch sounds great, but with factory springs??

I have the zx2 struts on my car..didn't lower half an inch extra at all..then I ask myself why?..well it's the spring that give you the height of the car..the strut follows the spring..so yeah maybe the zx2 strut is shorter but it doesn't give you an extra 1/2" drop

my friend's gs is actually lower than mine and he has kyb..btw we both have suspension techniques's

The MX-3 and ZX-2 are both built of the 323 chassis. Mechanically whether you have a MX-3, ZX-2, Escort, Sephia or (BG)Protege you are in reality just driving a (BG)323. This is why all replacement strut for the MX-3 have the same P/N# as the '90 323 Hatchback. The only difference is that on the ZX-2 struts is Ford uses the larger diameter front thrust bearing of the Probe which requires modification to the MX-3 upper spring hat.
