escort engine?

Post by psyense82 »

ok, my poor baby is sittin with 156157 miles on it. im lookin to get a lil more umph out of my next engine. a friend of mine has a 93 ford escort lx wiht a 1.9 thats pretty quick. i know most of u are saying go bpt or b6t.. but i dont have that sort of cash, so im trying to keep this junkyard cheap. i mean sure, ill go b6t if i can find a Mercury Capri XRS converitble thingy sure... but on the large off chance i dont... what escort engines will fit in the mx3 body without a whole lot of fabbing and chopping? either of them a close bolt up?

escort gt motors from 91-95.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Acutally either escort motor could be dropped in. But the 1.9 SOHC motor would be a step down from either mx3 motors. The 1.8 DOHC escort gt motor though is a step up.

the lx engine is a step down? wow, my cousins 92 smokes my car, all he has is a custom CAI. maybe cause i have an atx and hes got the mtx. i talked to him tonite, told him i thought bought droppin a GT in my mx, hes apparently doing the same with his lx.

next question...

ive read the FAQs for BPT and B6T installs... what will be needed in dropping a GT into my car? anyone know the engine code for that GT as well?
