MAF to VAF???

Post by manowar821 »

On a 92 rs (thats the sohc l4 model), is it possible to swap in a VAF to replace the stupid restrictive MAF from a GS or something? I know you can get a 2nd gen rx-7 non turbo MAF and that they are bigger (3" opening instead of 1"), but f**k, I hate those things.
I want a 100% opening VAF as apposed to that square 1-3 inch opening that we are stuck with.
I KNOW that a lot of you RS owners would love to see this happen.
OH, and would it work with a turbo if you COULD swap it in?
Thanks a lot!

After a litte more thought, I realized you hada 92 RS. The B6-DE's (pre 94 RS's) used VAF's, not MAFS. So what would you accomplish again by "swapping to a VAF"? lol....used the Rx-7 MAF, it will give you slightly better airflow then the B6-ZE's came with stock.

Haha, I am sorry you guys... I have the trap door type, which ever that is. I want the straight through kind with much higher airflow.

I'm somewhat confused by this... are you saying that they sell a conversion kit for the miatas? If they do, it would be a direct bolt on for our Mx-3 since the stock miata meter is the same exact VAF that comes in our Mx....

In my opinion MAF's would be the ideal choice for any set up. They are the most accurate, and how much is a tinny wire going to affect your air flow?

For those of us with the b6-ZE (94+), unless you go above 6000k then the Rx-7 maf is a pointless upgrade. proof: link

I found this from another thread just started today in the 4cyl section.
