Do I need a new starter?

Post by mxprecidia »

im doing an auto to manual swap on my 95 1.6 mx3. i was wondering if the starter on the automatic differs from the starter on the manual. my friend did this swap on his golf and he needed a manual starter. if u go to carparts.com and look up the starter for my car they only have 2 starters. it only has one for the 1.6 and one for the 1.8 v6 engines, doesnt say anything about manual or automatic

also, is $45 a good price for a used but not refurbished starter?

also, my friend that did this swap on his golf needed a bar that connected the engine to the transmission...do i need this? thanks

$45 is pretty good, just make sure the silinoide works....And im not possitive but i think the same starter works for both manual and automatic
