Hmmmm, well the normal idle speed for all 4cyls is 750 rpms (mine idles at around 550 and it's fine). If your engine is dying at 1200 you either have some type of air restriction (clogged air filter?) fuel restirction (fuel filter, fuel injectors?). Or it could be your engine is really idling lower then normal and you need ot adjust your TB air regulator. Which means your tach is way off and probibly want a new set up... take your pick I guess.

Good Luck

Like freak said it could be many different things, did this happen all of a sudden or what? also have you opened the hood? listen for a vacum leak any plugs off just inspect it, chances are if it happened all of a sudden it is not your filter. good luck

Have you tried the breather filter on the PCV? Sounds to me like its similar to the idle problem that these engines cars have...

i had the same problem with mine but it would drop lower than 500 rpm's. i took it to mazda and it took them a while to find the problem. it turned out being a problem with my maf so i changed it and then it ran fine

its not just the maf its the air intake temperature sensor inside the maf. its very hard to find a maf that doesnt have a blown temp sensor ive tried and im not going to buy a new one either. so ive just been dealing with it til i can find one.
