Tracer vs Protege
I was today at a junkyard and asked for a protege engine , they took me in the back and showed me one and than they showed me a 94 Tracer engine with 64k miles. Anyone ever swaped a Tracer engine in an soch MX-3? I would pick the tracer if posible, because the protege engine already has 110k miles. Could i swap the traces the same way i would swap the protege BPD?

Re: Tracer vs Protege
The BP engine was in TRACER LXE and Escort GT too.. It is the 1.8l DOHC engine, That's the right engine in the tracer.. If it is the 1.9l SOHC, forget it..Originally posted by plusinfinit:

Re: Tracer vs Protege
The tracer engine has a twin cam and it is 1.8, but the guy at the junk yard looked up on the computer an told me that it differs from the 1.8 protege because it has a diffrent exhaust(down pipe) and a difrent wire harnes. But evriyhing else is the same and he asks 300 USD for it. What do u guys think, should i swap it with my soch? What exactly does wire harnes mean? All the wires that go from engine to ECU?
Has anyone here done a swap from a tracer (1.?
There also is a 110k mile BPD protege for 250 usd, while the tracer engine has only 64K and costs 300 usd.
