INSANE fuel consumption

Post by sapper »

Before I took my mx-3 down to seattle from Vancouver for a little cruise, I was getting avg. 400KM per tank. Now I'm gettin 500 - 530. I still have all the same power (So theres no power loss), no mods done at all since before I went down to Seattle, and I'm using the same fuel (92 Petro can, like it matters....).<p>Any ideas on why this could be happening?? Not that I'm complaining (YET) but it seems a bit odd to instantly get an extra avg 115 km from a tank of gas. I juts hope that its something GOOD and not something BAD causing it.<p>[ August 11, 2003: Message edited by: sapper ]</p>
I saw a street sign yesterday that said Caution! Children playing! so I slowed down. Then I thought Wait! I'm not afraid of children!

You didn't do anything? No tune-up, no oil change, air filter change, anything like that? I don't think it's possible that anything bad could be causing it, so enjoy it! :-)

Oh I'm enjoying it, believe me. And no, no tune ups. I must be the luckiest MX-3'er this month.

if im on the highway driving nicely and stayin under 70mph i can get roughly 420-440 miles outta one take which is roughly 660km. but usally ill get 300miles city and about 380 hwy which makes me very happy considering im usually goin 75-90.
i got a 90 pgt...but wish it was a mx-3 bp-t!

When I bought my car at first, I ran on 87 octane.<p>I change that to 91 octane after I did a check-up.<p>2000kms later, that's been a lot.. The compression went UP, and the gas milage too.. to 450kms..<p>On my last run to Hamilton, Burlington, I did.. a whooping 650kms! Running at 120km/h.. But I just did a oil change, and I clean my filter.<p>Now, I wonder how milage I'll get with my CAI.. I just love pressing the gas pedal now..

Ugh...manach, octane has no effect on ur compression, or gas milage...<p>Read this and save yourself that extra money your spending on "higher" octane gas...but i will say this does apply to you IF "In some cases, like towing, or other stresses on the engine, you may find a higher octane fuel helpful."<p>
