Speedometer cable help!

Post by wainaink »

Hey guys my speedometer gauge is not working and i suspect it might have to do with the cable. Anyone knows what i need to do first, and if i need to replace it how do i do it. especially how the hell do i get my front panel off show that i could get to the gauge stack. The hazard lights and back window heater buttons seems to be holding it in place. Please Help!! anyone.

to get the gauge cover off there are 5 screws. the 3 in the top (easy to see and remove) and 2 at the bottom behind top cover of steering wheel. to get the top cover of the steering wheel cover off, 1 screw to come out. screw closest to fuse box out of the 4 under the column. pop top cover off and you can get to the last 2 screws to get the cover off to get to the gauge panel.

There is a chance that it could be the spedo conection on the tranny make sure that the wires are still conected. It is a large looking bolt that is on the farleft of the tranny up front (right hand side if you are facing the car.
