It has been a long road to get to this point, but I think I'm about ready to turbo. I already have;
-ms2 PNP and figured out how to tune it.
-upgraded the Tranny to the KIA g-series.
-Rx8 yellow injectors on the way.
-35,000mi "new" BP transplant
-Boost gauge on the way
-wideband o2
I know I will need
-'89 RX7 fuel pump (Probably later)
-'89 323 banjo bolt (oil) and coolant nipple
-intercooler and piping (2.5"?)
-Turbo and hoses
-manifold and downpipe
-blow-off valve
Most ov this comes in a cheap miata kit. not the banjo bolt, but an adapter. Same for coolant. Some even have flanges to make the exhaust fab easier.
I think I read somewhere that you could use a miata kit and cut/weld to make the top mount manifold into a bottom mount for the turbo. Then have an exhaust shop fab up the down pipe. I'm still waiting to hear back from CorkSport about an old 323 GTX manifold. I also saw a log type manifold on Amazon, neither top or bottom mount, straight out the back. Has anyone looked at it? Is it legit, or is that design retarded? Would I be better off having a shop just fab one for me?
Any positive feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
BTW I'm shooting for around 200+ HP. It's still my daily toy. Thanks!

Re: 1.8 BP going turbo
Hey, congrats and good luck with the turbo project!
When i originally went BPT...I swapped in a factory FD (93-95) rx7 fuel pump...eventually I swapped it out for a factory nippondenso Supra TT fuel pump.
I also used a flyin miata fuel rail and wrx, 565 cc ( i think? can't remember ) injectors.
On a base / drive-ability tune, at around 8 / 9 psi ...put down 195 whp / 175 ft/lbs...
this is with an old microtech ecu...( my mx3 has been a perpetually ongoing project...I want to re-do the wiring / ecu...to something newer..ie: haltec )

Re: 1.8 BP going turbo
What did you do for your exhaust manifold? I found this on Amazon " Mazda Miata Mx5 1.8L T3 T4 T3/T4 Performance Iron Exhaust Header Turbo Manifold " Which I think might be perfect, but I know nothing and have no experience. Honestly, I don't want to dig through all the build threads, I get easily distracted and forget to skim through for just the important stuff.

Re: 1.8 BP going turbo
I originally bought a j-spec BPT engine, so it came with the stock gtx manifold and stock vj20 turbo.( this was like 8 to 10 years ago )...the turbo now is a hybrid vj20/vf10.
I have not really looked at what's out there aftermarket wise for turbo manifolds..

Re: 1.8 BP going turbo
not much... It's looking like I'm going to have to use a miata top mount manifold, maybe have it cut and welded upside down, or maybe just cut a hole for it in the hood and leave it sticking out. the only other option I found was that one on Amazon. I think I'm going to get it just to see if it will fit. It's like $120, so if it doesn't fit, I'm gonna send it back. I've thought abut contacting pacesetter, I know they make headers for the escort GT, maybe they can fab something together for me. I think someone on ClubProtege fab'd one that looked like a rams head. It looked pretty sweet.
