Proper welding and metal work can make it tolerable to me.

That is how I feel about the screw on fenders when they are not done proper.

When I rebuild the Black Beast I do plan to incorporate a mild flare as I will be going pretty wide with the wheels. I will approach it the way that MG was done...by which I mean paying a professional body man to do it.

I think rivets/screws look best on a track/rally car, still can work on road cars though. Personally don't like em smoothed out...

These are those things that are like form over function. If you are racing and or running a crazy offset on the street you need something so you don't get a ticket. They can be made to look good IMO but most are kind of... done half a$$ed. I think that if folks spent more time with fitment and such they could look better. The rear of the 323 looks good but something to me is just a bit off on the front. If I had a car I rally'ed the crap out of I would probably do something similar. I am contemplating running mudflaps on the GS this winter just to combat against the massive amounts of sand and gravel.. The front of my skirts are already down to the urethane with only one winter of use.

yeah the front is kinda janky, mainly because they are flares meant for much larger fenders ie fairlady z.

i think i prefer box flares though, maybe something like a cosworth escort

this is arguably one of the most awesome cars in Mazda DIY history. Dan[Sac] built this car from the ground up, converted it to RHD and it has Wytbushings! The build thread is legendary over on clubprotege.

I think the flares on this car look absolutely perfect...for this car.
