I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Please don't tap on the hood. It disturbs the gerbils.

Re: Superhydrophobic and Oleophobic Coating
Currently, enough to cover 42 sq ft is ~$150 for both coats.
It does not hold up well to abrasion and if you use soap on it, it's pretty much gone.
It does have a cloudy appearance, so it's not perfect for windshields.
The operating temps are -30F to 300F, so it's not good for the engine bay.
It's a two layer coating, so you have to buy double the coverage area.
All that being said, I was looking at doing it as a paint protectant. Though I'm having issues finding anyone that says whether it has a satin/flat/gloss look over paint. I know Porshe has a coating like this that they use (windows and paint), not too certain who it's made by though.
The pricing for 5 gallon sizes would put you in ~2500 for a single coat over your paint.
I've been looking at using this for some projects I've been doing, but the company doesn't have "sample" sizes. The quart sizes, is around ~$150.
