removing my engine

Post by mazdaspeed23 »

hey guys

im in the middle of pulling my ze out of my winter car. got everything done, wires, exhaust etc. i got side and front mounts off, and the one in back instead of taking the bolt and nut thats in it going this way ------- i took the 2 nuts off the bottom under the skid plate for the tranny. so the whole engine mount comes out. but when im pulling the engine up its pulling the passenger side up and the drivers side isnt coming up with it, and when it does its bring the tranny with it, im not taking the tranny out just the engine, an i got all the bolts that hold the tranny and engine together.. what else could be stopping the engine from coming out? its already apart from the engine/tranny

^agreed

It seems you've done this before, but you have to separate the engine and tranny horizontally before moving one or the other vertically.

Day old thread so hoping you've got it sorted already.

The input shaft of the transmission is still engaging your flywheel. youll need to drop the lower crossmember for the transmission and are best of removing the tranny from the bottom then the engine out the top for the quickest removal install.

Second the input shaft.
Also, check the passenger side's intermediate shaft (jack-shaft, some have called it), may still be bolted to engine (?)
