Re: bore?
Depends on where you want your power, you can have a turbo spool quick down low, but you'll lose steam for up high. On a supercharger, it still does need to build a bit. I don't get instant max boost, but I think I can easilly get 3-4lbs of boost even at 1000rpms and I max at 6. I should record it on video. But the benefit is the linear control of it. My vacuum/boost gauge is as responsive and controlable as my throttle. I don't have to be hard or full on the throttle and can control it by half psi I f I wish.

Re: bore?
Yeah, I have been reading up quite a bit on them and I have decided to go against a clutched SC. the problem is they are very harsh engagement and it causes a lot of stress on the SC and your motor. if you have it come on at say 2000 - 3000 RPM it will be ok but if you use it like most or like a NOS button it will lead to spending more money in the long run. Plus the pulley is so large that after you have a FMIC you are lucky to see 3-5 psi on the KL motors. I have been looking at none clutched versions with a internal waist gate and they are equally efficient and produce several more PSI but l o n g e r, so now I am just thinking Turbo... But I didnt really want to mess with that AT ALL. only other option would be to remove the clutched pulley and install a reduced then run full time boost with a BOV... decisions decision. I see why most just end up going turbo (-_-)

Re: bore?
Why not engage the clutch prior to startup, and eliminate that problem entirely?
Sure, you couldn't just punch it like a N2O button, but you would save your economy from the get-go, and only use it when you need it(track days, flying through deserted roads on a sunny day like I enjoy doing, or whenever)
Technically, you wouldn't NEED the FMIC at all. Especially for low boost applications, no?
I don't think I'd mess with turbo, unless I had a supercharger spooling it. A clutched supercharger that disengages when a larger turbo spools would be pretty badass. That eliminates the max RPM problem of the supercharger, and reduces turbo lag time a bit too.
Still, I don't see the point of it... Beyond a certain point, you're just spinning your tires. If I were drag racing, I could see it.

Re: bore?
i've considered both, Turbo and SC. and like everything else there's always pros and cons, and the research ive done it seems theres more cons then pros for the turbo. Like i've seen ppl with turbos and they have to sit there and rev the car for a good minute in order to get the boost. Thats what i dont want, if im at a race track i want to be able to honk on the gas and the boost be there. no wait time..
@josh if i use a proper size turbo i won' have leg, What turbo would be the perfect size for the ZE and have no wait time for boost or have leg? i see ppl using the T3/T4 but theres still a wait time?

Re: bore?
The only way to have VERY little lag and make good power with a turbo setup would be to run sequential twin turbochargers. You'd have a small turbo spool the larger one, if my understanding of it is correct.

Re: bore?
there are also twin scroll turbos, with two turbines. smaller one is efficient down low, big one is efficient up high.
there will always be a little lag, but on a properly sized turbo, between cruise and hammer it should be less than a second, like a downshift in an auto, or the response from a cheap fly-by-wire. its from the down low that it takes a moment. turbo may not kick in til 2,3,4,5000 rpm depending how you size it, rotational inertia, displacement, throttle position, etc.

Re: bore?
What Ryan said.
Many things to factor in depending on your goals. Its great to want a dual charger setup but really the DE ZE has so much torque already a little lag is just fine. I would want it to spool by the time the second VRIS kicked in. Hell I can brake the tires loose at 60mph on the freeway by throwing it down into third. so really what are your overall goals.
I would like to hit 210-230 WHP and call it good, So that is the only reason I have been looking into SC's. I know if I go turbo i will over do it, I always do. Potentially the car with proper tuning on the ZE could see 180 ish to the wheels so the SC will put it just where I would like it. Fuel consumption is also a factor in my build. It all depends on what your realistic goals are, and how much you have to spend
