Hatch without Wiper
Hatch without Wiper
Just curious if anyone has had an MX3 with hatch, and one without.
I like the look of the clean glass, but is it annoying without the wiper?
opinions? has anyone removed the wiper and motor? Is it the RS hatch that is wiperless?

Re: Hatch without Wiper
It's a lot lighter... and water won't be a problem above ~37 MPH if it's falling moderately. You can see headlights and shapes just fine through the water too, it's the fine detail you'll be missing.
Worth the inconvenience? That's up to you... Personally, I love my rear wiper.

In the USA where you'll find one. Otherwise people put a plug in the hole, which is ghetto IMO
Don't use you're wiper, that'll give you a good ideaClappy wrote:I like the look of the clean glass, but is it annoying without the wiper?
People have farily often. Personally I like it, it's part of the car, and that the Mx-3 has the intermitent rear wiper. They have taken them out and put a rubber plug in the hole, which is ugly IMOClappy wrote:opinions? has anyone removed the wiper and motor?

Re: Hatch without Wiper
I have never used the wiper on any of my MX3s. You have mirrors so the back window is just a luxury IMO. Removal of the wiper assembly is a personal decision as is any other mod being carried out so go for what feels right to you.

Re: Hatch without Wiper
Sure... if you dont live in a place with snow. I hated using our black car when my gs was down b/c rear visability isnt there when you need to switch lanes and its snowing/heavy rain.

Re: Hatch without Wiper
honestly I think because of the shape of the car and rear glass it is incredibly unnecessary to have a rear wiper. If you do have an issue with visibility and moving under 10 mph and it raining heavily, its not something some rain-X cannot solve. I have tried it in the GS because I live in WA and it rains a lot, but I find it more annoying than anything.

Re: Hatch without Wiper
If your side mirrors are set properly, you won't be looking at the rear, you will be covering the sides (think blind spots - unless using R100 mirror glass you might get a little of the back). That's what your rear view mirror is for - to look out the back.Daninski wrote: You have mirrors so the back window is just a luxury IMO.
I use my rear wiper any time it's raining. I'm a very focused driver so I will take whatever advantage I can to be aware of my surroudings. The more clarity I can bring into my views is my goal. The water just sits on the back window (unless using rain-x as Josh pointed out) and can cause a blurry and distorted view out of the back.

Re: Hatch without Wiper
I loved the rear wiper. On the highway it wasnt necessary, but it town I used it all the time.

Re: Hatch without Wiper
IMO, it looks much cleaner with out a wiper. (reason I went with a wiperless hatch) As far as rain goes, my plan is to only have my car out on the nice days. ...........Then again, I'm a little excessive as I got rid of my ac, powersteering, heater core, and auto seat belts.
We all want to be fast and look cool. Cool changes but fast never does.
