Seats
Seats
There's more engine swap info here than seat swap info. My question is - has anyone swapped seats from an MX6, Probe, Millenia or other closely related mazda V6 and do they fit without modification?
Feel free to also reply if you've simply swapped seats from something else and how that went for you.
I'm sick of the MX-3 seats, the MX6's seats are so much better, I definitely want to change over to something better!

Re: Seats
MX6 iirc are bolt on, seen it done once on a 3 and it was a tight squeeze around the armrest but they fit and as far as I know they went straight in

Re: Seats
I was just talking to someone about that this weekend. He has an escort and swapped in MX6 seats. It is a tight fit between the armrest and the side of the door. I was looking into it, as after I swapped out my 94 seats for the 92's though they are more comfortable IMO you sit up so much higher. The MX6 seats are fully adjustable and that would be nice
If they are a direct swap into the MX i am unsure. I would think that they would bolt onto 94+ rails if they were not a direct bolt in due to the styles being very close. But I have not confirmed this yet myself

Re: Seats
Does anyone know of any other cars that have direct bolt seats? I heard 323 seats will bolt on but does anyone know if say Protege seats will fit? I don't want to get any obnoxious looking aftermarket ones and all of the MX3 ones I've seen have been in really rough shape. I haven't' actually looked or sat in MX6 seats before, how are they for a fairly tall person?

Re: Seats
im fairly sure 323, mx6, and protege bolt in. 626, millenia, rx7 and probe gt may fit aswell but who knows. our brackets are fairly unique and if you can get a quick look at other seat brackets it shouldnt be too hard to figure out if the bolts will fit or not.
rx8 seats fit in the space but you need to weld some brackets onto the rails to make them fit

Re: Seats
With those seats sitting a little lower it gives you the option to change up the mounts a bit and raise the seats up if you happen to be a little shorter than average. Not that I would know anything about that.

Re: Seats
you mean the rx8 seats? i think it has to do with how you mod the rails. if anything mine turned out being the same height or slightly higher then stock. either way im 5'11 with broad shoulders and a larger body and the seats fit me perfectly and i have plenty of headroom

Re: Seats
Gess you short guys have so many options!! I'm 6'6" so raising the seat any higher is not an option for me!! I'm trying to lower my seat as much as possible!! That's why I'm hoping the recaro 323 seats I'm getting drop it alittle!! I will let you know when I get them next week!!!

Re: Seats
I just installed the 92 seats I have into the 94 and lets say I am unhappy with the seat height. so much so I am really thinking about going back to the 94's...Tavman_1213 wrote:Gess you short guys have so many options!! I loved the RX8 seats, in my RX, but the rotor in the headrest i cant get over it in a piston car but they are comfortable.
