I might add that the escort had the same syncros, according to a very indepth and LOOONG page on PT(backed up with part #s, feel free to search if you must, I utterly despise PT).

The benefit was access to a cheaper source(Escort aftermarket) for replacements, and the possibility for lower mileage on JY trannies.

Same syncros as the S/R? Which Escorts?

Well, I can't really explain more than that if you don't want to believe it. It's no different than trying to put a G-series from a BP on a KL, it won't work either, it's a different motor, so it won't bolt up, the bellhousing it designed for a specific motor series, it's the innards that make it the series that it is.

Honestly, the only reason I perused that thread was to find out if the syncros were indeed an upgrade, and I remember finding a definitive no from multiple sources(citing part #s, which sadly matched). I was pretty bummed, It was a 20 something page thread... Lots of arguing, so I spent way too much time just to find out it was a wild goose chase. That's PT for you though.

If you go to ProbeTalk, and search transmission swaps or transmission threads, you'll probably find it pretty quickly. It was one of only a few with that many pages to it. The "management" banned me after I dared speak my mind. I still peruse on my alternate account, but it's slim pickings if you're looking for concrete information.
