I got a free car! you'd never guess what it was!
so i'm not sure if anyone remembers but i mentioned in another post a couple days back (the what'd you do for mothers day post) well this is pretty much the story.
so just to start from the beginning i was going to go down to calgary from edmonton because my girlfriend had a table for artist to sell her art, so i gave a call to my mom to let her know that we we're planning to go down for that weekend to so that my family could see my daughter (i think i might have forgotten to post that up here, but i had a baby girl march 11th this year!)
so when i called her she told me that she had a friend that had bought a car for her son a while back for $6500 and he stopped driving in after the first year because he got too many tickets and couldn't afford to drive anymore so he parked the car in their garage and never drove it since.
The only information we knew about the car is that it was a 1998 Nissan manual sports car.
so when i got into town after a while of introducing my baby girl to the family my mom called her friend and she said it would be ok to head to her place and see the car, so we drove to her place and talks a little bit about the car and i find out this car has been sitting in the garage for 9 years! since......2002!
she lead us straight to the garage and opened up the door, i was SUPER excited to find out what nissan it would be.
So obviously the car inside was neither a 1998 but it was neither a Nissan, it was a 1992.........mazda.......teal green........6 cylinder...........mx-3! Now what are the chances of that! there's 1000's of cars it could of been and it ends up being an mx, i was almost speechless, had no idea what to think but i was pretty happy and ended up just started laughing out loud
It had a scuff on the side and little dents in some spots but nothing major, it was surrounded with stuff so i wasn't able to get a good look at it but it looked pretty damn clean and it looked to be rust free but i'll find out if it really is, she forgot to get the keys for the mx so i wasn't able to see if it would start or anything but the driver door was unlocked so i was able to look inside and this thing looked to be in very good condition, no rare OEM goodies or anything but i look at the odometer and this thing only has 126k km on it!
i had to come back home since i have work but i'm going to try to take some time off work to go back down and do a little bit of work on it and hopefully try and start it to see if it runs.
i'm super excited to go see it again and take a good look at it since it's probably in really damn good condition since it's been missing 8 years of action but that also might have taken it's toll on some parts but it was garage kept so hopefully that kept it everything in good condition.
i never took any pictures because i was so flustered especially because i was expecting to see a nissan of some sort but it was just a super dusty mx-3 surrounded by stuff with flat tires XD
This is probably one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me and i thought i'd share it with you guys, especially because its about our favorite car!

Congrates on the baby.
Really nice find (I mean the car lol).
Remove the spark plugs and pour oil down each Cly then roll the engine over to bring up oil pressure and reinstall the spark plugs first before actually starting the car,,please.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: I got a free car! you'd never guess what it was!
i'm not sure i understand the question here, are you asking if i'm going to buy the car? because it's already mine i just have to pick it up =)DeadMaker wrote:Another mx that will go for surgery

if your asking if i'm going to sell it, that's undecided but probably not
thanks!Scariestwalnut wrote:Hey! Congratz on your newborn! And, changing the oil/sparkplugs should be done, well thats what I would do...
i never thought about sparkplugs but i'll get those too for sure!
no i just have an awesome mom =DDali wrote:man you must really pull off the sad puppy face.... I have never seen anyone get given so much stuff. Question now is which mx-3 are you going to keep and work on? As well are you coming to Kelowna?
well easy question is i'm going to be keeping both! so unless i get a ZE for this one i'll probably keep working on my BP-T RS and just keep this one as stock since i don't feel like working on two cars
i don't really have plans to come this year as i don't have a trust worthy running car which i really need having a baby and all
*Edit*
i kind of did above!rece wrote:i think i heard you say you need a KLZE swap
so....is this you volunteering? =D with great help from me and the baby of course....mostly the baby XD

Re: I got a free car! you'd never guess what it was!
I just poured the oil down the spark plug wells, no big deal. Pour and ounce or two it won't harm anything then yes turn it over with the spare plugs out for sure for 15 -20 seconds, long enough to get oil up into the heads. Good luck man. I found adding a seal conditioner helps as the seals in the engine are probably in questionable condition.
