Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
Ok, but that doesn't answer my question..? Does anyone know where you can swap a BPT into a 4 cyl for $2000? Even if it's in ottawa, that's cool. Just tell me where.

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
I believe that I posted on a thread that you had in the v6 board a while back. I think the last time you posted you said that you and a buddy were going to start doing swaps. Like I said before, why would anybody want to risk losing $2500 on a motor swap done by a non licensed mechanic. Which is undercutting a very well known and experienced shop by $500 (http://www.a-spec.ca). A-spec also test all vehicles and have warranties. No offence, but i'd rather let my girlfriend loose under the hood of my car before a non-licensed mechanic.

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
a-spec are f*ckers, i wouldn't trust them either.
the swap is not difficult and if it is 2500$cnd complete it's not worth doing yourself for that price.
it's not like it is a motor tear down or any thing-make sure you torque the pressure plate , put a new rear seal in it. timing belt and out the door.
i wouldn't do it unless i had a grand in my pocket at the end

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
I've heard a lot of good stuff about a-spec .. the reason they can do the swaps so cheaply are probably because they pretty much only work on mazdas and probably do it often so it keeps cost down.. i know in MI there was a shop that did swaps on hondas for just a little more... and they were much cheaper than some other shops for that reason

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
I got my swap done at A-Spec, good guys in my opinion. Only thing is they are definatly not the most organized shop around. I had to hound them to make sure they put the thing together the way I requested, not the quickest job either. For all their faults though, those guys know what they're doing around mazdas.

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
All that i meant was there are much better options than some guy doing swaps in his garage. I wasn't saying that a-spec were the greatest. However, they are capable of a doing 'quality' job, and can prove it. It was just an example.

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
My partner and i have business called jdmpowerband
great you think that a-spec does good work
but that doesnt mean that we do ****ty work
i own a 93 honda civic fully built b16 turbo and my partner owns a 92 240 with a sr20det with built head
i used to own a mx-3 with a kl-ze and a 45 wet shot but i sold it
i think that are prices are fair and i like to think that we do good work havent had any complants. We follow up on are motor swaps, give the customer a call a week after they had the car back to make sure they are happy
later

Re: KL-ZE motor swaps
First of all I never meant to say that you do ****ty work. I've never seen any work you've done. Maybe next time if you're going to try to sell your services you should think about posting some credentials. Pics of cars you've done, maybe a mechanics license. Maybe even the name of your company or the address of your shop. You know, normal business practices.
