Looking to get a new vehicle :(
I still plan on keeping my mx-3. However I am in need of something newer and safer. At this point I am just doing research into possible cars I want. Any comments on the vehicles themselves or any ideas for something similar would be great.
I am looking for 2006-2010 with around 50k on it. Price range max will be 25,000. MANUAL
Currently I have my eye on
09 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart - DO NOT HAVE MANUAL ONLY FLAPPY PADDLES!! I have to test drive one of these to even see if I like the paddles
06 Acura RSX
08 Volkswagen GTI
08 Subaru Impreza Base Model or WRX.. Hatchback only I do not like the sedan
09 Nissan Altima 2.5 or 3.5 - 2 door coupe and manuals seem to be rare with the 2.5.. I don't think I need the 3.5

Re: Looking to get a new vehicle :(
Rsx type s 06+ ftw
Sporty, economical, 6 speed, heated leather, great sound system and good resale.
That would be my choice. Drove a gti the other day, was OK, but parts are $$.

Re: Looking to get a new vehicle :(
All Wheel Drive is nice. Subies have that, my ex has a new car and she said the Impreza my son bought, with 181,000kms on it handles better than her new car.

Base model impreza or the nissan will probably be your best bet pending insurance prices, otherwise I know RSX type S GTI and WRX's command a premium insurance stateside atleast.

Subaru STi, Mazdaspeed 3, Mazdaspeed 6, Mitsubishi EVO IX or X, Subaru Legacy GT, Civic SI, theres so many cars in that price range its hard to come up with all these choices. What are you looking to do with it? DD or track toy? Do you need AWD to drive in snow with the car? Do you need 4 seats? Gas mileage? Theres alot to consider before giving so many suggestions.

Re: Looking to get a new vehicle :(
It will be DD. AWD would be nice but not necessary. It's Canada so a RWD car will do me no good. Gas mileage I am looking for something around what I get now so 30mpg average.2RotorsNaDream wrote:Subaru STi, Mazdaspeed 3, Mazdaspeed 6, Mitsubishi EVO IX or X, Subaru Legacy GT, Civic SI, theres so many cars in that price range its hard to come up with all these choices. I'm not a fan of the mazda's i'm afraid to say. EVO's and STI's will be out of my price range for something that new and low km's on it.

How expensive are cars around you? Around my way you can easily get an STi or EVO IX at least. EVO X is possible as long as its not an MR. But 30mpg good luck, RSX-S or Civic SI are about the only cars that'll get you that and you pay with performance buying those. They are slow.

We didnt even had evos here until a year or two ago (minus the evo 10) as they failed a low speed frontal crash test. Regulations changed tho and now ppl are importing evos into Canada from the US. So needless to say, they are kinda $$. Evos still go for alot, and used ones are usually bagged.

Re: Looking to get a new vehicle :(
Plus i'm not really looking for something with 260hp that runs on premium...
I was really wanting to go with a base Lancer however with some very quick research I have found they have horrid paint. I looked at a few at a dealership.. rust spots on a car that only has 20,000k on it.. not gonna happen.
As of now base impreza hatchback and altima coupe are what I'm leaning towards.. both hover around 30mpg.. run on regular 170 hp

Yea rsx-s calls for 91..
Altima coupe aint bad, my GF had a altima 2.5 sedan as a work car and it has like 270k on it and no maintenance was ever really needed.. real reliable.

Re: Looking to get a new vehicle :(
Wow, thats crazy. Out here you can get an EVO IX for ~$20-23k and ~$25-26k for an EVO X as long as its not the MR. EVO VIIIs are like $16k here.solo_ryder wrote: In Canada cars are more alot more expensive, especially out west

Re: Looking to get a new vehicle :(
So after much debate, test driving, and research I have decided to go with a Mazda 3 Hatchback.
VW GTI runs premium no deal
Subaru Impreza.. too pricey basically just paying for AWD which I don't care much for
Altima 2.5 too pricey for basically a base model... plus they suck on corners
Lancer feels insane cheap, dials and shifting
Kia Forte was 2nd choice.. good looking, great options however it's a new car don't want to risk it breaking at 60k
Mazda 3 had best quality, price and CONTROL yay
Now I just have to find one fully loaded minus leather
