94 MX-3 B6 to BP

Post by ianm1837 »

Hello, I just purchased my second MX-3 and the poor 1.6 has been abused and is burning oil. I think it is a perfectly good excuse for an upgrade. =) I have been lurking on this forum for over a year now and i know that this topic has been discussed to death but...

I am looking at a 93 ford escort GT BP. Is this the engine that I can plug directly into my wiring harness and ECU? Or am i going to have to re-wire everything and use the ECU from the escort?

http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=379303

^^ this is the thread that i got the idea from. I have looked at the wiki's and searched the forums and the data says its the same engine that is discussed in the post. But, when i actually LOOK at the two engines they look different. If i missed something in my searches, feel free to redirect me. I don't like to make people repeat themselves, but i can not find a definite answer.

Thanks guys,
-Ian

If your 1.6 is a DOHC, you need the engine harness as well. Obviously the ECM too. 1.6 won't run a 1.8 properly, not to mention the VRIS will be off.

There are two or three types of BP's, with two different styles of valvecovers and two or three intake manifolds...
