bad timing?

Post by 96chris »

hey, so i just did a head gasket replacement and got my car on the road a couple of days ago. for first start up's every time it takes longer then usuall to start, and SLOWLY i mean SLOWLY idles up, somtimes have to give a little gas. but starts after that are fine. at operating temp the car will not adle lower then 1000rpm, and sometimes a bit higher. it idles down really slowly too.. i also have been gettind really bad gas millege, it really sucks on the wallet. of course when doing the head gasket i had to re-time the thing, so could maybe the timing be off a bit? and if any one has diagrams of how to time it would be really nice! i used mitchell on demand for the pics of timing it. but they were wrong on a couple of things for my car. its a 96 1.6L DOHC. thanks!
