Which is my current 1AM Rant: Mistakes, and being sorry... for getting caught.

I'm a careful guy. I hate risks so much, I can't even keep a balance on my credit card. I'm a firm believer that prevention is the best protection.
(Which, diverting from my main topic, explains my view on abortion; I don't condone abortion... But man, oh man, am I for sterilization. There are some of you out there that seriously DON'T need to be procreating AT ALL. And you people who don't need to be procreating... are somehow doing DOUBLETIME exactly what you shouldn't be doing!)

You knew the risks, the possible results, but you went through with it anyways. You agreed that you getting drunk was more important than someone else's well-being. If you TRULY did care, you'd have that designated driver, keep under supervision with someone responsible, at your own home, or wherever you don't endanger someone else. Prevent a situation, save yourself from being sorry.

It's just like some girl who goes and gets drunk, fools around or gets messed with by some other guy, and you find out.

That goes for forum-ites too. Think about what you write, PLEASE! Seriously, those derogatory messages I see pop over the place, you wrote it, you're responsible for it. "Sorry" should have been thought about it BEFORE you wrote it.

And if you're DRUNK, and ON THIS FORUM, typing stuff that you wouldn't have typed while being SOBER, guess what? You're responsible for every word of it. And what's the most important part is... It's usually VERY, VERY FUNNY.

Whoa, okay, yes my mistake was drunk driving. But before you fly off ranting about me, I think you should hear the details. There is a cop in my city that is a total douche bag. He has pulled me over and given me tickets for my license plate light being out, not having the registration sticker on my car(I even had the new sticker in my glovebox but because it wasn't on my car he gave me a ticket for it), and for stopping behind the stop line at a stop sign. I got out of the first two by showing they were fixed.

Well, this guy pulls me over one night for speeding and he smells alcohol on my breath. He makes me do a breathalizer test and I blew a .06 blood/alcohol content, the legal limit for Utah is .08. But there is some stupid law that the officer can use his discretion, so he arrests me. I was a block away from home, I didn't run into anyone or anything.

I don't know how many of you drinkers have played with a breathalizer before, but you feel pretty damn sober at .06. Thats like three beers. I normally don't have a problem with police officers, my dad was one for 20+ years. I am a safe driver, in my ten years of driving I have never been in an accident. Other than speeding, i am pretty lawful and I'm careful about waiting until I sober up before I drive. Sure, there were things I could have done to prevent it, like waiting longer or get a DD. But seriously? The Legal limit is set at .08 for a reason, because most people can operate a vehicle relatively safely under that level. I am positive any other cop would have just given me a speeding ticket and a warning.

It bugs when one person who "made a mistake" compares their situation to that of another person who was the unfortunate victim of a seemingly random and inexplicable medical condition. That's kind of like me telling my friend who has bone cancer and can't walk because her hip is disintegrating that I know how she feels cuz I jumped off my garage roof when I was a kid and messed up my hip too.

My real rant is towards those who can't take responsibility for their actions. If you had gotten home that night without incident and without being pulled over would you still be sorry that you drove impared? No of course not. If your dulled reflexes, however slight, had caused an accident that night would you be sorry then? I imagine you would...cuz you're probably a really decent human being. The fact that you can't make the connection between what did happen and what could have happened is the reason you deserved your punishment.

Ryen, I feel for you man. I've had a couple of reminders recently of how lucky I am in my life and how suddenly it can change. Just believe me when I say it could be much worse. Try to be thankful for what you still have.

I guess our rants aren't too different from each other...
For every action, there's a reaction. A decision, a consequence. It's selfish to think that you can make an action without the reaction. To do what you want without consequences is shallow and oh-so-very selfish.

Look, I was just telling Ryan I know how difficult it is not being able to drive. I wasn't trying to one-up him with my sad story or any bulls--- like that. Its my problem, I brought it on myself, and I've dealt with it. Yeah, I could have done things to prevent it, but its in the past now and I can only make sure it doesn't happen again. It was a difficult lesson to learn to be more careful.

I understand why the drunk driving laws are so harsh. I'm sure lots of people wish they could have learned their lesson the easy way like I did, without causing an accident or killing someone.

Today, I did a 1993 dash swap (same style, just one had wrecked vinyl). I also did a MTX pedal assy swap.

The part that justifies this rant, is that the car had an immobilizer, alarm, and command start installed, and it looks like they were done at all different times.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, THE WIRING CLUSTERFLUCK!

I feel better now.

And on a brighter note, I should finally get my license back next week!

In light of my previous rant, it appears that my 4911 smilies are unwarrented.

Phone call from my neurologist. "Did you ever fill that prescription you got? we called your doctor and he said he wrote it"

#1 no, I didn't
#2, no, he didn't.

"Um, no? What is it for?"

"Dilantin"

"And I need this because?

"Out of your CT scan,, EKG, EEG, EEG, MRI, and several rounds of bloodwork, one of the tests showed (and I quote) a 'slight abnormality'"

"So, I'm 99% perfectly healthy, and I need seizure meds that will cause my hands and eyes to jerk, memory problems, loss of coordination, poor concentration, and long term bone, hair, and skin damage? In order to become a safe driver again?"

"Yes, now go get that prescription! and call us in a week and we'll get more blood work to make sure you're actually doing it, then we might give it back to you. Oh, and we didn't schedule that echochardiogram that you're being called about. I don't know how that happened"


Go to hell, doctor.

So, I leave for a month in two weeks. I get back, I need my license or student loan time it is. student loan, and boring summer, and PISSED OFF RYAN!

I dislike when people claim their almost 20 year old car still puts down factory power.

Your K8 does not put down 130 horse anymore unless your compression is at 193 PSI.



And I just realized the last post is mine. I got my license back. It was strange, it all kind of just disappeared and hasn't come back to haunt me for about 6 months so far. No follow up. Surprising? No. Am I glad? This time.
