Help me with some ricer math
Car One
205hp NA
165tq
2500lbs
V6
Car Two
205hp Supercharged
201tq
2900lbs
I4
So, stock vs stock, would this be a close race? I know car two has 40 more tq, but car one weighs 400lbs less. I don't have the exact number as to how many pounds equals horsepower. Something like 10lbs = 1hp sounds familiar. If that's the case, with car two weighing 400lbs more, that's like a 40hp loss compared to that of car one.
Anywho, in your opinion, who would win in a straight up drag. Please explain why.

Re: Help me with some ricer math
a ZE mx3 will beat the cobalt ss in a drag from a stand still. From a roll the cobalt will win. but its close both ways.
I dont know about the 2010 SS though, its 260 hp ...

Re: Help me with some ricer math
There are three different Cobalt SS's, yes.
2004 - 2008 were Supercharged
2009 - on are Turbocharged
A stock, normal Cobalt engine is a 2.2L ecotec
The third version of the Cobalt SS was the 2.4L ecotec
I know this because the fiancee owns the 2.4L SS and I am the old co-founder of the Ontario Cobalt Club, it's original Webmaster, etc etc.

Re: Help me with some ricer math
cobalts are too heavy. Also, not a mazda. Strike 2.
I'g get a genesis way before the cobalt.

Re: Help me with some ricer math
i wouldnt say that its all purly drivers race... they are both fairly equal in performance... but i can pretty well bet the cobalt will beat a fairly goood ze... and since most ZE that have been swapped dont run as good as they should i would bet the ZE will lose... KL swaps are not as great as ppl make them out to beJWMX3 wrote:a ZE mx3 will beat the cobalt ss in a drag from a stand still. From a roll the cobalt will win. but its close both ways.

Re: Help me with some ricer math
the best time a bone stock cobalt ss is capable of is 14.6 that was as tested with a professional driver

Re: Help me with some ricer math
lol, im not sure where it was tested but in a straight 1/4mi drag race I would still put my money on the ze everytime no matter what the elevation. not saying it cant lose, but would probably take 8/10 depending on track/drivers etc..

Re: Help me with some ricer math
also remember the cobalt is 205hp at the wheels too... not that it makes any difference in what the outcome would be... but you guys are also under rating the cobalts potential... got alot more than what a KL has!!!
