New here from SC

Post by drewhall07 »

Hello all. Jus joinin this site as ive been on feoa.net and clubprotege.com for a while. i had just found out bout this site. lol Well heres a little about me.

Name: Drew
From: South Carolina
Job: Prison Guard
Intrest: Cars, Computers, Games, Custimizing cars n such. basicly i just love to work on cars

For starters, im suppose to be gettin a 1992 Mazda MX-3 GS auto v6 this weekend. and im goin to be doing a BP turbo swap into it. I alrdy have almost everything i need for the swap as i was goin to throw this setup into my 93 escort gt. but i found a great deal on this MX3 so i will be usuing it to do my swap into. I will get pics of the car as soon as i get it home. but i do have a few questions about sum things with the swap if sumone could help me out on here i would greatly appriciate it.

I kno i need the tranny crossmember, 2 lower motor mounts, shifter assembly, ecu, axles n all. but

1. what all wireing do i need to change besides the engine harness?

2. Do i have to change the sterring rack out?

3.Which radiator can i use EGT/mx3/honda half rad? and will the stock hoses fit?

4. Anything else i need to kno...lol

if anyone could help on these few questions i thank you so much. And love the site so far. :)

Welcome!
It would make sense to trade the GS for an RS, or sell the GS to buy an RS.
I wish you the best luck, whatever you do! Please do a worklog.

Welcome.

1. The front harness may need some pins transplanted.

2. You don't need to change the steering rack. A common RS swap is to upgrade to the GS rack with a tighter turning ratio.

3. Mx-3 RS rad. Not sure about cross-referencing from other vehicles.

4. You can use the GS alternator, but it gets bolted onto the BP the opposite way, and I believe you have to swap pulleys.

Look up info for the 4 cyl-v6 swap, and do mostly the opposite. Keep the GS braking system, and rear performance rod.

If you consider a tighter turning ratio better... Most people do...

Performance rod is bolted to the rear cross-member, helps to prevent body roll.

if you still need to get most of the parts... why not boost a de or ze and get the same power with less work and money? There is far less custom work involved and many people have already done this before. The turbo manifolds are cheap and easy to get, t3/t4's are also easy to source.

Check out the worklogs if you have not done so already. I don't want to crush your ambition... but I think you may be going about your goals the wrong way. You can also do the klde/ze swap one week. Have twice the power you had stock... then have the time to build funds while having a powerful working car.

well like i said before, i have a bp motor n trans with turbo setup n all. and i dnt have the cash for a klze at the time. im only lackin a flywheel, injectors, and oil/water line kit and then i can do the swap. no since in tryin to get sumthing else when im almost done collecting these other parts. and its really not that hard of a swap if u get down to it. really just change out the tranny crossmember, engine harness, motor mounts n stuff. and i have plenty of time to work on the car when i get it so thats not a prob. just gettin those few extra parts is gonna be the hardest. lol
