Re: Mx-3 Engine Swap

Post by Ryan »

I remember when I peering into the MX3 engine bays at the scrap yard... and had a hard time telling the 4 clys from the v6's.

Now I can tell, in the dark, as they zoom past in the oncoming lane.

Hehe.

I also agree that much more knowledge is required by Milli, and that (s)he shouldn't get too discoruaged or angry at our seemingly nasty posts.

You can't walk into a nuclear plant and start throwing ideas around to the people who work at the place, adn demanding they give you the straight up answer, like it won't take them a 50 000 word document to explain what you just asked for. (not that cars are as complicated as nuclear physics... well wait, they probably are)

I am a Certified Engineering Technologist in Mechanical Engineering. I am also a lapsed journeyman motorcycle mechanic and general handy guy. My job is totally boring so I like to find interesting projects for the MX-3 to give me something interesting and challenging to think about.

I know from personal experience that when I first arrived here I did a lot of "searching". I didn't actually register until a month later, and by that time I knew that:

A. People Engine swap into BP's and KLZE's
B. I got a failmatic and needed to learn stick shift.
C. Worklogs and FAQs were helpful

If you really want info on swapping PM me. I am feeling generous..

or, just IM me if you have aim... I think my AIM is below.. if not just PM me and i'll get you it.

But as the others said, I really recommend reading up on stuff. I know Inodoro from here has me reading some stuff on engine building, and it will definitely help you in a long time.. especially if your new to mechanics.. luckily for me i am a good handy man so things like this were quick to learn, but it's very helpful to read up, search a lot, and look at others worklogs.

Though I must agree with him.. sometimes it's a PITA to search.. It comes up with the thousands of posts of nonsense that others had before you even get to the juicy stuff..

True, but that's one of the points of searching; reducing the amount of useless crap posts about your useless crap question that's already been anwered many times.

You have to avoid crapping on the forum to keep the crap off the forum. But you can't keep the crap off the forum without sifting through some of the crap. It's a vicious cycle!!

Well put.

Actually, you need The Force.

I have trouble using it unless I know EXACTLY which post I'm looking for.

Tranny
Trans
Transmission
Tran

VAF
MAF
M A F
V.A.F.

With all the typos, and acronyms, and other internet shorthand, its very easy to miss a good thread with good content, just because the title means nothing, or its so terrible in construction that you skip it over.

The other thing we can do to sort out the crap, is give very thorough answers to all the crap questions!

That gets old really fast. The only way for that to work is if everybody bites their tongues until somebody has the self restraint to once again give a very thorough answer.

How 'bout an automatic spell checker on the forum?

(And an IQ scanner?)

I know that this is alittle bit of a dead thread, however if anybody is looking for an electronic copy for reference, here is the link. http://www.kctuners.com/members/inis/Maximum_boost.pdf

If this forum is against the use of this ebook, just simply delete the thread, dont flame me for finding it :)
