To be honest I'll probably take the valve cover off first, just turning it over makes me cringe. I'd be surprised if the interprep setup let a valve go after just 10k miles at that RPM.

Thanks. I don't care much about the bottom end, its the kl31 1a1 heads I invested time in: kl31 cams, port and polish exhaust ports, knife edge intake ports, removing cast marks, lapping valves, interprep springs etc... But pretty damn sure the heads are the problem!
