Re: new house is done and the days of crawling on my back
Well, there is an alternative to a lift. Fairly low cost, although dangerous.
I don't know the name in English. In Spanish it's called a "fosa" (which would appropriately translate as "grave"), and it's just a hole in the ground that fits between the car's wheels, with an iron lip so you won't fall in when you're moving your car over it.
May be an option...

They're not illegal, as long as you have the proper zoning....

That's good to know. Thanks 93.
I'm starting to think about a combined system. Maybe a 4 ft. deep pit and a small lift?

If you live inside city limits you have to check the bylaws for unattached structures. For instance, I live in a cookie cutter neighborhood and my garage is limited to 14', with a max dimension of 18x22 due to a percentage limitation of ground area covered. Taking that into consideration, the interior ceiling is almost 9'. The height of the truss is 5', and even with the mx3, and the datsun laid out on the lift it's still too tall.

Re: new house is done and the days of crawling on my back
Well, right now, this is just hopes and dreams, since I'm in no condition to afford either one, and still don't have a car.
But I'm expecting some big changes, one way or another, within the next few months, so all this information may prove invaluable in the near future.

Re: new house is done and the days of crawling on my back
Thanks 93, I hope so too...
I have a Court date 3 weeks from now, to see if I can get my license back, and, right now, I'm half excited, half terrified.
If everything goes well, I may be getting my beloved MX-3 even before year's end. But if it goes wrong...

Yeah times are rough right now. But I got this info copy/pasted too. I want a lift so bad, and lots of info here.

Every municipality is different, although they share some commonalities. I know one thing inodoro, my car is parked right now while i try to pay off my fines.
