[GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
As seen here in the GI thread, the polyurethane Wytbushings group buy is ready to begin.
Pricing is as follows:
10 - 14 complete sets sold: $370ea + shipping
15 or more complete sets sold: $320ea + shipping
These prices include everything. Paypal fees, forum donation are included in these prices.
A complete kit includes:
4 @ Front Lower Control Arm, Front half bushing (all bushings are 2 piece bushings)
4 @ Front Lower Control Arm, Rear half bushing (SEE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW!!!)
8 @ Rear Lateral Link Common half bushing
6 @ Rear Lateral Link Short half bushing
2 @ Rear Lateral Link Long half bushing
4 @ Rear Trailing Arm, Front half bushing
4 @ Rear Trailing Arm, Rear half bushing (RS or GS, please specify)
Installation washers
16 plain carbon steel crush sleeves
Silicone based Polyurethane lube
If you only need a partial set, the prices are as follows:
LATERAL LINK KIT: $150 + shipping
TRAILING ARM KIT: $100 + shipping
FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM KIT: $100 + shipping
Lube is included in the price of partial kits. As of this moment I don't have final details on the lube. My local distributor is having individual "Squeeze Packs" made up and couldn't give me pricing when I spoke to him last week. I will either use those or I will buy in bulk and find an alternate dispensing method.
All partial kits are 1 kit PER CAR and include crush sleeves and washers if applicable.
Bushings are black. Sorry, the poly company does not want the hassle of multiple colors and neither do I.
Bushings can be ordered in 70, 80 or 90 Shore A hardness.
***AN IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE LOWER CONTROL ARM REAR BUSHING***
The LCA rear bushing is the shelled bushing that looks like this...
Image
There are 2 different part numbers for this bushing on the MX-3. I am not making both. I have decided to make only the smaller earlier version as it is less expensive, and will offer a tighter ride. If you have a car made 06/94 or later, your car will have larger shells and this bushing will not fit for you. The smaller shells can be sourced from any early MX-3. There are 4 early cars in my local parts yard at the moment. I can pull some if necessary and ship them along with your bushings if necessary.
I have created an email acct wytbushings@hotmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to receive all of your email correspondence as well as your Paypal payments.
To place your order I need to know:
Your name:
Your shipping address:
Your forum handle:
GS or RS:
Tell me exactly what you are ordering: i.e. Complete kit, Selected kits, hardness...be specific! You may specify some bushings harder than others. This is entirely up to you.
***NOTE REGARDING HARDNESS***
I HAVE DONE MUCH READING REGARDING THE HARDNESS OF THE REAR END BUSHINGS AND ITS AFFECT ON THE HANDLING OF THE CAR. IT IS MY STRONG RECOMENDATION THAT BUSHINGS HARDER THEN 80A NOT BE USED IN THE LATERAL LINKS. HARDER COMPOUNDS IN THE FRONT END AND TRAILING ARMS SHOULD NOT CREATE ADVERSE HANDLING CONDITIONS, HOWEVER HARD LATERAL LINK BUSHINGS WILL PROBABLY NEGATE THE ACTIVE STEERING INTENDED IN THE DESIGN OF THE SUSPENSION AND MAY EVEN CAUSE BINDING IN THE SUSPENSION. 70A HARDNESS IS RECOMMENDED FOR THE LATERAL LINKS.
ULTIMATELY, THE DECISION IS YOURS AND I DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY BASED ON THE SELECTION OF BUSHING HARDNESS AND ITS AFFECT ON YOUR CAR'S HANDLING.
Persons ordering complete kits must submit a $200 deposit. Persons ordering partial kits must pay in full.
As soon as I receive 10 deposits of $200 I will place the order for the molds. If you want to wait to see if the price will go down that's fine but if I don't get 10 deposits I will not place the order. I will update the list as soon as deposits are received. If you make your deposit hoping for the price to go down and only 10 - 14 people ultimately sign up, you're on the hook. Once the order is placed, you will not get your deposit back. If you don't come through with the final payment I will sell your bushings to someone else. Once I place the order for the molds I AM ON THE HOOK for a few thousand dollars.
I feel I need to repeat this. If you make a deposit you must be prepared to complete payment at the pricing level the group buy has currently achieved. Once 10 deposits are received and the order is placed NO DEPOSITS WILL BE RETURNED...PERIOD. If the pricing level changes, final payments will be adjusted accordingly for everyone but don't give me your deposit if you can't afford to pay at that price level. If 10 deposits are not received, deposits will be returned.
If anyone has any questions please email me at wytbushings@hotmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or post in this thread. Don't PM me here...it gets full in a hurry and it's a pain.
I look forward to doing business.
Charlie

Re: [GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
I have spoken with both of my vendors and they are very understanding. The current economic climate being what it is, they have no problem waiting a few months to move forward on this project. Given what I've heard from those who have responded (and how many people I haven't heard from) I think it's best if we revisit this in February. I am ready to go forward as soon as interest is rekindled. I have all the manufacturing lined up and the pricing will not change.

Re: [GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
Had a talk with the mold guy today. I should have first mold designs by the end of the week next week. I'm told the CNC mill is a little behind so it could be an extra week or so, but not to worry my project is in queue and I should have a prototype in a few weeks.
I'm going to buy steel in a couple of weeks and start producing sleeves. I have located a local plating company who will cadmium plate them for pretty cheap. Not as good as stainless, but close.
Lube manufacturer has a case of 5oz tubes of Jet-Lube Silicone Compound DM on order from TX for me...pricey...but hella wicked lube.

Re: [GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
I have spoken with the manufacturer of the molds and the first test mold should be done this week. A test bushing will be poured to check the shrinkage and if all is well, the remaining molds will be made immediately.
This means that Bushings could be poured in a few weeks. I would like everyone to confirm the firmness of their bushings.
I have also added this note to the top post.

Re: [GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
The prototype set is on my desk. Here are some pictures of testing basic fits and stuff...
LCA Rear shelled bushing...

Trailing Arm Rear bushing...

Trailing Arm Front bushing...

The complete set of bushings...

From left to right...
Lateral Link Front Inner and Outer and Rear Inner (these six bushings are all the same), Lateral Link Rear Outer (2), Trailing Arm Rear (2), Trailing Arm Front (2), LCA Rear (2), LCA Front (2) (I haven't cut the sleeves for the LCA's yet).
Persons purchasing a full kit will receive a full tube of Jet-Lube Silicone Compound DM. Others will receive a smaller but still generous quantity (sorry but it's frickin expensive). Everyone will receive the necessary number of metric fender washers.
These bad boys will be going on my car on Monday. I am very happy with the quality of the parts. Sizes are right on the money and the finish is excellent. Once I'm happy with the fit of everything (and it looks perfect so far) I will place the order...probably Wednesday or Thursday. Once I do that I will alert everyone that any outstanding payments are due. Your bushings will not be shipped until I have your final payments. Barring scheduling difficulties with the poly guys I expect about a 3 week turn around on the complete order. I expect to have everyone's parts in the mail by August 7th.

Re: [GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
Here is everyone's order and payment status as of right now.

Please this is your last chance to confirm your orders and ensure that you get what you really want. I'm going to set the shipping rate at a flat $20. That covers packaging and $300 coverage. I'm losing money at that rate to most of the US destinations but it's a good average and it's a nice round number.
I'm placing the order on Friday morning and times are tight so I will need your final payments to cover everything. Please have your payments in to wytbushings@hotmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in the next few weeks.
As always if you have any questions don't hesitate to write.

Re: [GB] Wytbushings - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings
This is the final list of participants in round 1.

First orders were shipped on 09/25/2009. Just keeping some records for posterity.
I will not be placing another order until I have a significant number of interested persons.
