Mods please BAN that tool.

Regarding the topic....

You're going to need a 5 speed manual transmission swap.

If you want more power, you're going to need a 1.8L DOHC BP.

For the transmission swap:
Transmission
wiring for pedal assembly
pedal assembly
shift linkage and shifter
new clutch

For the engine swap:
1.8L BP engine
Thats about it. New belts, fluids, and the other regular tune up stuff.

Check the worklogs, A few guys are doing detailed writeups on 5speed swaps.
Now with Moderator power!

Black '93 BP RS - wrecked, parted, scrapped.
Green GS - Sold.
Black GS - Summer DD/Race car - Fancy KLZE
Red GS - K8-ATX -> MTX-KLDE - Frakencar. Scrapped
White GS - Rusty. Parts. Scrapped
1997 BMW M3 - my summer baby
2002 BMW 325Xi - sold
2003 Forester Xti - EJ20K swapped.

Note:
When changing the transmission in an Mx3 break the axle nuts on both sides first.
The most annoying thing was having to drop the valve body to disconnect the cable.
I had to make a custom tool for unlacing it.
As for more power.
I love my lil MX3 30 mpg with the AC ON.
The auto is just fine for my rural area.
