Thought i'd share the love

Post by RWDAddict »

I'm new to the MX-3 but was completely disatisfied with mine so.....off to the junkyard!

Nice straight body, crap motor, and smelly damp moldy interior.
Image

Hmm to heavy to pick up by myself....lets lighten things up a bit.
Image

Still kinda portly, how about a little off the top
Image

dang this thing is heavy, half a car weighs half as much right! Hey little bro, cut it in half for me
Image

Still can't pick it up, I'm gonna flip it over and remove the suspension, that should lighten the load
Image

Mo betta. Thats more like it.
Image

Gonna haul it off this weekend, bet it won't even bring the gas money it'll take to get there. At least the scrap yard is just a few blocks away.

you could have made a fair amount parting that out.. good pics tho. I would keep the hatch if I were you, it's worth a few bucks just for the glass.

I agree. What a waste.

A waste of money to be made, a waste of time, and more important, a waste of a car that's getting more and more difficult to find. :crying:

Sorry RWDaddict, but any way you look at it, what you did was dumb, to say the least.

But if the frame wasn't rusted through/bent and the body was in good condition like it looks, then no car should end up like that.

You're right: being an MX3 doesn't make it a godsend. But being a working car makes it, in the worst case, a source of money, and if he was not interested in money, it could've been a godsend for somebody who needed it and couldn't afford it.

He could've CLEANED the car.
He could've SOLD the car.
He could've PARTED the car.
He could've GIVEN the car away.

Either one of those options would've meant a lot less work, and given him a lot more money (or satisfaction, providing he's human) than what he did, but instead of that, he decided to spend who knows how many hours working to destroy it, so he could find out that cars are heavy...
And to top it off, he decided to document his "achievement", and post it on an MX3 forum, because it's soooo cool...!

Genious...

I know one thing, I'm going to tear down my car to pieces, sell parts to members here, and then bash the crap out of it before crushing it. When It's time. I would rather have the parts go to respectful owners, than have some punk drive the thing away to paint the interior and glue a hood scoop on. That's what I call MX-3 respect.

We got a parts car donated (Thanks OROutdoors!). It was wrecked, and wasn't salvagable, so we (Cjthor, Mooneggs, Stereoking15, vancouverwa, and I) stripped it in a day, and CJthor cut it into little pieces. I punched dents all over it, until the skin started coming off my knuckles. Speaking of lifting it, there are pics in the thread about it of me lifting, and balancing the shell on my back.
I agree, though, that the one in this thread could have been parted out, or rebuilt

That's the point. If your car is not salvageable, well, it's a paperweight already, so the smart thing to do is to part it out, and then, whatever you want to do with the shell, have fun!
But if the car is usable, destroying it is just wrong. It's not about "MX3 respect". As much as we love our cars (and, believe me, I cried when I got mine stolen last June), they're machines, and if we don't need them anymore somebody else can use them.
But besides that, these are not Corollas we're talking about. MX3's are already damn difficult to find, so every time you destroy a good one you're doing it a disservice, not respecting it.

It's actually my car.

It was/is being parted out. I bought it not running without wheels from ATL. It was sitting on the ground infront of a chicken house. The sunroof leaked really bad and had ruined the interior along with the PO using it as a truck and hauling all kinds of nastiness in the rear. I have a 93 Escort LXE and a KLZE. I had started aquiring parts for the swap but then came across this car for 250. I stripped it down to bare shell and cut it up. Even saved all the wiring. I had some of the parts up for sale on ebay, club protege, and feoa. I do not have enough posts to sell here so it never got listed on this site and I didn't want to do a bunch of illegitimate post whoring just to do so. I offered up the sheet metal parts for free if you come cut them out, no takers. It went off to the junkyard yesterday so those are no longer available. I didn't want it all going to waste and making a few bucks will help fund my swap as well.
