Fix rear suspension on the cheap

Hey Guys,

My rear suspension is really shocking, every bump shakes the whole car. It's been like that for ages, but I've finally decided I'd like to do something about it. I've got a pretty small budget, so I'd like to do it myself on the cheap. Any tips? In Aus, most of the Eunos 30x parts are hard to get and expensive so if I can use parts from more common cars, that'd be really handy.

I don't know a lot about suspension, unfortunately so if anyone can point me in the direction of some good guides, that'd be great too.

If you're just looking for maintenance, than you should install new KYB GR2 shocks. If you want performance handeling as well, go with H&R Springs, Ground Control(handles great but ride is rough), Intrax, Eibach, plus a few others. These can be found on the internet, such as Ebay, etc. And they're not too expensive if you look around enough.

Go to local scrap yard, find a front end wrecked escort ZX2 or MX-3 with low miles and steal that susp. Shouldn't be much more than $50 all together.

Thanks for the tip. Unforunately the Escort ZX-2 Didn't make it to Aus. Is the Ford Probe suspension any good? There's a few of those about. Alternatively if any of the Mazda 323, 626, MX-5, MX-6 parts are compatible, that'd be awesome.

What parts do I need to swap? Just the shocks or the whole suspension assembly?

Oh, sorry, I didn't know that.

I'm not entirely sure. Chances are if they look the same style, they are. Does your yard have a return policy? Its not like our suspensions are super hard to exchange. (unlike honduh)

90 - 94' 323 and Protege (Familia) would swap directly over. In Aus, the Astina is the same platform as the MX-3 as well. There should be many in local wrecking yards. Do what Ryan said. If all you want to do is keep your MX-3 on the road.
