Gaskets for a rebuild
Gaskets for a rebuild
So I am going with a rebuild on my ZE.
The question is:
Do I use a full Fel Pro gasket kit for about $400 AUD
OR
Get Fel Pro head gasket kit for about $120 AUD and use a free Ebay gasket kit from a friend (who didn't use it).
Alternatively - if anyone in the USA can source some OEM gaskets for reasonable prices instead and is willing to ship to Aus, let me know I'd be happy to pay and give some extra cash for the effort!
It's just hard to find parts here and OEM is expensive as hell! $800 for a OEM gasket kit.

Re: Gaskets for a rebuild
I have a handfull of things you'll be able to use. I don't have a full inventory on hand, but off the top of my head...everything's new. Bought and never used.
Oilpump
Water pump
valve cover gaskets
oil pan gasket
front and rear main seals
assorted orings, seals.
Shipping would be a little stiff but if you want I'll get a quote nad try to make it worth while for you.
I don't have any of the big gaskets, but I might be able to save you a few bucks on this stuff.

94' RS/GS/MS/CF Monster Turbo...coming soon.
93' GS SE, the Black Beast, the former love of my life...soon to be gutted and crushed.
94' GS, black on black, now in several small pieces...and one large crushed piece.
2007 Mazda3 GT Sport --- super fun
2004 Honda RC51 --- Lost forever to some theavin' bastard

Hey wytbishop, I would only need the oil pump from that list. Is it genuine or aftermarket? I'll def grab it off you if it's OEM Mazda. Actually - If you have valve stem seals that are OEM I would also be interested. PM me some prices. Thanks mate.
@ Ramsen - I will probably use a fair bit of the ebay kit but not the head gaskets. Oh and I will be getting my block and heads resurfaced and cleaned up good. Did you do this? Because I've heard if it's not a super clean super flat surface you will have problems regardless of brand.
@muttpower - thanks but those prices are in UK currency, which is even stronger than the US dollar is in comparison so I'd lose a lot of money there.

It should have an option in the upper right hand corner to change the currency to AUD, EURO, USD, GBP, etc...

Re: Gaskets for a rebuild
Thanks ramsen25, I am gonna use a Fel-pro head gasket instead. I've heard only good things about their "perma torque" gaskets. Btw do you know which company you got the bad ebay head gasket from?

Re: Gaskets for a rebuild
I used sealant on mostly everything.
Also, don't bother installing the ebay(or cheap non-ebay) exhaust gaskets. Mine literally lasted two weeks. They are fibre between metal, and the fibre breaks down and blows out really easy.

I re-used my old factory steel ones last time. Steel doesn't break lolRyan wrote:I used sealant on mostly everything.
