Just wondering what the deal is with them. Wonder if it was the dealership at the time. the car also has mx-3 on the rear rocker panel area. I bought the car from the original owner who is not the type of person to have it done some where.

I'm definitely no expert, but to me that looks like something a dealer might have done after the car arrived. I used to work at the local mazda dealer here and we used to have a vender come thru and add some "custom sport-striping" which had the mazda logo at the end of the stripe. They also used to swap out the head rests in the Tributes for ones with the mazda logo sewn in. Just something the manager could deduct from the price if we "could close the deal today". From the picture, that looks like a simple iron-on. Just my opinion though...

As far as your floormats having a white mx-3 logo instead of the teal? not sure... it definately looks like you have the second gen mx-3 mats that were sold from the dealer.
The first gen have like a rubber flat backing(that flakes off after a while) and embroidered mx-3 lettering in teal (on black mats) or red (on tan mats).
The second gen have the rubber knobby things all on the bottom and more of a patch looking mx-3 logo (only seen teal with black before)
