Sonoco I believe uses upto 10% ethanol in their fuels. Also, I'm pretty sure Ethanol raises the octane level as well.

All I know is that it lowers HP, and mileage.

Umm none of those because I'm American. Only 1 of them sounds remotely familiar, and that's Sonoco.

Sonoco exists in the US, I know, I've gas up in and on my way to Virginia.

Esso is known as Exxon in the US

There's Shell, which I believe is in the US too.; I hate shell. But you're right, that list is Canadian biased and you don't have those like BP and Texaco

We only have 76, Shell, and Texaco, and grocery store gas stations around here... and everything is 92 + 10% ethanol...

When I lived in Memphis the only place I filled up was BP and they had 93... If they had a sunoco here that had 94 I would use that for sure! Haven't seen one of those stations since I lived in Ohio...

What's the appeal of higher octane (other than to deal with detonation)? I use 92 and I think that's plenty. Might even downgrade at some point. There are cars with our level of compression that run fine on regular.

Sunoco all the way, I fill up there whenever I have the chance. I hate Petro Canada, the people working there are idiots.

The only thing that could make a difference in our cars... the ones with stock timing... is in warmer weather, in higher rpm, is that the car won't knock, causing the ECU to retard the timing, causing loss of power.
