235/40 17" possible on the MX-3?

hey I got a set of michelin pilots in awesome shape off a friend chep their 215 50 17 will they fit? I'm not lowered it looks like they will just clear the strut but the tires arent on the rims yet so I can't try them out. anyone try a 50 series?

mounted tires today 215 50 17's they just fit and clear. will probably rub around corners if I hit a bump but thats ok. So for those of you who want to know this is probably the bigest you can go

no way those tires will fit unless you get spacers and roll your fenders up some, the bigger your tires the more power loss, and mazdas like to go fast :lol:

you'll go faster with taller tires. you'll accelerate a hair slower though. And I mean a HAIR your tranny has a 4.56 differential in it, Thats why our cars rev so high on the highway, thats why they take off so good. You'll alll see once you put in a 2.5L. 1-2----3------4--------------5. Then you'll want wide tall tires, for traction and time to shift.

he is running 245 45 17 i would ask him what he did to get them to clear
