exhaust set ups

Post by jamesmx3 »

So what exhaust system have you got?

I want to quieten mine, I preferred it when I only had my induction kit on, before i got the system I'm running now which is: Probe header
MaganaFlow HiFlow cat
small silencer
Muffler

I was thinking of replacing the small silencer with a proper box one, at the moment it's a expanded pipe with the wadding stuff in i think:

here's the rest before it was done:

I did think of replacing it all with with standard size pipe but in stainless, but I don't want to spend too much, let me know what you run and how it sounds.

I run stock pipes but I know absolutely nothing about exhaust. I have a single pipe muffler and the car runs very quiet compared to when my muffler had two big rust holes in it.

On my stock 1.6l sohc, i ran factory header/exhaust manifold, and then just straight 2inch crush-bent piping (not stainless) to an Apexi Dunk muffler...It was LOUD! A good resonator should help decrease/lower the tone I would think...Or what I did that really made it quieter...add a turbocharger

was thinking of welding this into the system where the expansion bit is after the cat:

might do the trick

I know mine with just the muffler tip is annoyingly loud. We should make a thread with the sounds of our exhaust, so everyone can see hear them and make a judgment before they go out and buy one.
