Engines: Interference or non-interference?

Post by Leedeth »

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_B_engine" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mazda B engines are said to be non-interference on Wikipedia, is this true?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_K_engine" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Are Mazda K engine interference or non-interference?

I need to be absolutely sure, because I don't want to be risking timing belt breakage if it's an interference engine, and at the same time I don't want to be wasting money on a timing belt change if it's a non-interference engine.

Thanks.

Both are non interference, if your belt is broken you will have no internal engine damage.

The only risk of valve damage is if the belt broke at very high rpm. Even then its unlikely that the valve could float high enough to contact the piston.

Lol, My friend and I tore down his eclipse to find bent valves. He abused that car and was so mad because I am worse on everything I own and havent had an engine go on me yet. But I beleive 14psi is going to finish off the ZE in a short while.
