Re: more power???
Why would anyone go through all the effort of hitting the z key instead of the s key? I know where s is, and I need to stop and look for z.....
Turbo it. 2 grand.
BP it. 1 grand max.
Or, buy some miata cam gears, 3" CAI, 3" catback, that HP chip from Ebay, and run some fuel additives.
All the best,
Ryan

Re: more power???
Yes, and the BOV imitation sound device, the electronic supercharger, the vortex swirl attached to the TB, the voltage stabilizer, and several extra thurnongulators.Ryan wrote: HP chip from Ebay
The ONLY way you're going to make power out of the B6 powerplant is this:
turbo (stock internals can handle up to 200hp without abusing it.)
if turbo is not an option, you can source some miata (only up to STAGE 2) camshafts and swap them out. There is a write up on how to do this, you can search for it. search miata camshafts. Or something.
However, if you do this, definitely get the miata adjustable cam gears... you will praise the makers when timing the car.
If you want to get the most out of the swap, a custom-made intake will be suggested. They don't sell any for the B6, so it will have to be custom made. Easily done, though.
The stock exhaust manifold IS quite well-made... however, the aftermarket probe 2.0l headers will fit with some customization. The only benefits I see to this is the headers look fantastic and will be lighter than the cast iron stock one... but I don't believe you'll gain any HP performance out of it.
You can also take a high flow cat, such as a magnaflow cat (still EPA approved or whatever it is) a high-flow resonator and muffler (I do NOT suggest a cannon. The B6 will make your ears bleed with one of these on... more so than the V6. a chambered muffler from magnaflow or flowmaster I suggest heartily)
Some also suggest SLIGHTLY upping the flow on your injectors. Your stock injectors are technically good for about 120-130 HP, so whether it increases the power is left unsaid.
You can also do the HEI mod, which won't give you extra HP per say, but you will recover some LOST HP, as well as increase your response.
Also, adjusting your timing ahead by about 10 degrees will give you a bit better performance, but you will have to increase your octane to prevent knock. Also your MPG will drop significantly.
I would suggest trying to regain the HP lost from time. Do a tune up. plugs, wires, disty cap, disty rotor, thermostat. Give it a seafoam treatment. Remove your throttle body and follow the online procedure in the FAQ's on how to clean your throttle body, and also re-adjust your TPS. remove your fuel injectors and sent them in to be professionally cleaned and rebuilt somewhere like witchhunterperformance. Try running some oil stabilizer for a few oil changes. It's increased the response in my vehicle ever so slightly. Might do the same for you, might not.
Someone needs to put up a list and sticky it, so we can just paste in the link and call it a day whenever this question is asked.

I would kill for a good used thurnongulator.

Re: more power???
yea i think I'd rather have a turbo muffler barring to help my exhaust flow faster

please please explain to me how the stock internals can only handle 200 hp?SuperK wrote: The ONLY way you're going to make power out of the B6 powerplant is this:

Re: more power???
how can it only handle 200HP?
Are you saying it can, or can't?
The key word is without abuse. As in, no drag racing, jackrabbitting everywhere, heavy tracking... It is quite a hardy engine

Re: more power???
200 hp is very conservative.
With a good tune i see the b6 taking 300 horsepower with no problem.
Hell i was running my hybrid at 14 psi with timing added (thank you meth injection)
I would have went with more boost, but i need a clutch bad...

Re: more power???
It's not to say that the B6 can't hold more power (with stock internals)
But it's to say you're running a risk of premature failure if you're abusing it.
Although it is nice to hear that your B6 is running so well.
I still say keep it at 200HP. It's always best to stay a bit conservative if money and work is an issue for you.
