I've read about H2o injection, and other substances using a "Bong" (Sorry, I don't know a technical term for it). A catch can is a bong, without liquid in it. I am wondering if there is a good substance to put in it for better performance, or gas mileage. People used water to cool the combustion chambers. I've always wondered what would happen if I put Nitro-Methane in the catch can. I had some for an R/C car.

The idea of water injection was tossed around in the 70s as a way to improve gas milage. The problem is too much and your basically steam cleaning your engine, not good. Aircraft used water injection years ago as well during take off in supercharged engines to increase power to be able to take off from A/C carrier flight decks. I believe dragsters use to use it as well many years ago.

How about Meth in a bong? The kids down the street would say "F* Yeah, dude!", or more likely "I have no idea what's goin on".

Water/methanol injection works. It's MUCH more efficient when using forced induction as the water helps cool the air charge and piston before and after combustion. If you arent using forced induction, then its only real application is in high compression instances and running the car on fully advanced timing. Most water injection kits use your windshield sprayer as a tank, but I think that's stupid as you need windshield washer fluid in winter. You don't want the water/methanol to be too far away from the engine compartment or you will need to have 2 pumps to keep the high pressure needed to spray. High pressure, low volume is what you're shooting for. Ontop of better mileage, power and increased engine life, you should expect to have greatly reduced emissions as well.

Its worth the money.
Straight and to the point.
Who needs an intercooler when you can do it chemically.
I deleted my intercooler completly and Spool time decreased by quite abit.
I use a -25* windshield washer fluid (about 40-43% methanol) and have seen great results.

So your running the meth injection and that is enough in order to get rid of the intercooler?

Yes, ive completley deleted the intercooler.
The intake manifold is cool to the touch even after a spirited drive.
Though injecting methanol does have its down falls, Ie causes corrosion to aluminum, if it runs out it can cause major engine damage etc etc.
The reason why i wanted to try it was because i wanted to run a large turbo with the least amount of lag.

I will be using water/meth injection also. :mrgreen: I was planning on still running a FMIC though. :shrug:

-nos92mx3...Curious on your setup, I am assuming you run a fairly large sized tank for the water/meth?
On average, how fast to you go through it? And also, I saw in your sig, you are using coolingmist, I have heard their controller is better than the one I have (snow performance kit), just wondering your review of it? Thanks in advance!

I to will be getting a methanol injection kit, I will try it with the intercooler and maybe without. But it sounds like a good investment.

Personally, I think a FMIC on the JDM bumper looks... well, sexy.

But this injection I have never heard of and seems interesting. You inject it straight into the intake? Through the engine and all?

Well its a 2 quart tank with their smaller nozzle installed, I can drive the car like i stole it for about 2 hours before i need a refill.
What i plan on doing over the winter is buying a gallon (or larger) sized tank and relocating everything to the rear.

The controller i was very impressed with.
Very simple to use.
You can program your own maps through the usb port on the side of the controller, or just use the dials on the front.
I would recommend the cooling mist kit.

Yep, water injection has been around for a long time, just never became very popular i guess.
I love it because no one is the wiser like they would be with the FMIC.
Dont get me wrong I :love2: the look of a fmic in the grill of the car, but id prefer function over form any day.

With both a FMIC and Water injection, you can have significantly higher boost/more power and efficiency.

I say get the best of both worlds!

Yeah, water/meth injection has been around for a long time, but only semi-recently have the kits, controllers, and ways of tuning them become very good. Basically the technology has caught up.

nos92...Thanks man, the kit I have is also a 2 quart tank, which I plan to use for now (under hood). I think I may try my set-up as is, and see how it performs, and then maybe get the coolingmist vari-controller, as it seems everyone is impressed with it.
--I think a trunk mounted /bigger tank would be even more beneficial to you, as you have no IC, but you piping from compressor to TB must be super short...insta-power! :twisted:
--Have you tried coolingmist's pre-mix...cool fuel or snow performance's boost juice?

At the shop we installed a kit on a supercharged FC and dyno'd 20 rwhp without even tuning it yet, that was just an after-install pull. I give water/meth injection :2thumbsup:

Instant power? How does 13 psi in first from a 50 trim garrett sound?
no ive never seen the reason to spend the money on their premix stuff.
If you can find the MSDS from the washer fluid/ gas line anti freeze(heet, in the yellow bottle), with a little bit of math you can have the same thing.
