Yea your guna have to disconnect the air bag when you put the new aftermarket wheel on. I dont think it will throw any codes since a ton of people disconnect them. I believe its only 4 screws or somthing like that in the back of the wheel and the airbag should just lift out. Make sure you disconect the battery so you dont get 200 pounds of g-force to your face. lol just kidding, but seriously disconect the battery.

It should be a one of those annoying connecters. Your guna have to jiggle it till it comes lose. Then just push it of to the side. Shouldnt require scissors or any wire strippers. The air bag is separate from the wheel. Once you get the air bag out then their will be one big screw in the center of the wheel and thats how you remove the wheel itself. Also make sure you have a hub adapter for the new wheel your putting on.

just make sure you unplug the battery. my 93 didnt come with an airbag, but i think you might have to install a bypass resistor if you dont want the airbag light to come on. no big deal, but i dont think you can pass inspection with the light on. some other tips: rent a steering wheel remover, and if you get a universal hub make sure that the steering wheel lines up with the right set of holes before you anchor the hub. mine had a top designation, but i had to use the second set so i had to use the next one over from top to install the wheel. also, make sure you clip the turn signal cancel into the back of the hub adapter. if it's not clipped securely, the wheel will squeak when you turn the wheel.

Why dont you just diconect it and find out. Seriously its just one wire connection. Just unplug it and if the car dosent start then just plug it back in. jezz.

the car will start. the only thing is you'll be stuck w/ a light on. i know i guy w/ a 94 miata that just ran a 3 ohm resistor between the wires and the light stopped coming on... but i dunno about an mx3

You cant use the airbag with an aftermarket wheel. Thats why many people dont get them if they have Air bags. What light comes on when you disconnect the air bag? If its the check engine light that would be a bumer.
