I am quite sure the blocks are entirely different sizes, so, no. Just put in the escort engine.

I believe what you are referring to is a B8. It won't have the same port spacing as any B6, because even though they are both SOHC engines, the displacement and cyl spacings are different.
The laser engine is a BP.

If you want more power, don't throw money at your B6. Its not a performance engine, so there are no performance parts. Put in a BP from an Escort GT or Protege LX, then you can find parts because thats also a Miata engine....

there rite there is nothing for the 1.6 sohc MX-3. and even if u find modify or custom make parts for the B6me ur not going to get a WOW out of it.. trust me i been down that road. of all the parts i added upgraged on my 1.6 sohc the best time i got was a 16.9@eighty something. and even at that still got my butt kick by them hondatas LOL.

on another MX-3 i have a 92 with the 1.6 sohc i did do the bp swap cost me a lil over a grand back them i put other things in as well. there is a huge difference from a BP swap MX-3 and the 1.6 sohc mx-3.. as different as night and day u get the point. down the road i went all out on that mx-3 and it is what it is now.. and it was cheap either.

from what it seems looks like ur low on funds or cash or just was to make it go as fast as it can but u want to spend no more than 50-100 bucks. tell u what fellow mx-3 guy never gonna happen.. the price to go faster cost money money money.. u can go the cheap route but chances are u'll chuck a trans blow a engine or wreck into something.. something always happens when u go cheap..

like they been telling u stop being suborn and go the BP 1.8 dohc SWAP u won't be disappointed i wasn't and other haven't either.

better to invest in a BP and that lil runt 1.6 sohc.

my advice

Figure out what you want out of your engine, write down everything you'll need, and buy only that. People that buy parts without a plan waste more money because they don't plan what they want out. The BP is a great choice in engines and your swap can be done for 1k or less.

And Yes Don't put 1 dime in the b6.
