Only the one you invent. Let me know when it's ready. I'll take two.

The Miata doesn't have one? Or is it that it won't fit?

Is there anyway to span out 5th gear so that your not pulling 3500 RPM at 65 MPH?

Actually, an 6-speed normally wouldn't do you that much good. It just makes all the gears closer together...usually.

You can't easilly just change the final drive, that's pretty much changing the entire gearset of the tranny. The only easy way to get the results would be putting in a taller 5th gear. I'm not sure about the stock F-series, but if you swapped to a g-series, this thread would give you some ideas:

http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=65171" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Revs don't necessarilly mean you'll get better milleage, you also have to think on how hard the motor needs to work. The longer gear means the motor has less leverage in moving the weight of the car + the force of aerodynamics. Your revs may be lower but you may actually have to depress more on the throttle to make more power to move the car. Think of it this way, what's more efficient, pushing the throttle in about 2cm and reving at 3500 or reving at say 2000 with the pedal to the floor? the only way to find out which 5th gear works best is for someone to actually swap them out and try it and compare. However, the only people who've swapped to a taller ratio tranny are those who've either turbo or swapped their motors for more power.
